See things vs. Not see things? Way too dark the second.

Hey everyone, been a while since I posted here. I've been working on a comic called Ghostbusties with an artist on deviantart for the past few months and it's nearly done (maybe 30ish images?). Hi every one,
Here is my very first render, I still have difficulties with lighting and I had to screw around with the skin tone. I then posed the characters in from the sides and changed the colors of her clothes in a third render. Wanted to test really bright colors. Turned out alright, but I still welcome criticisms/advices. I particularly need advice with lighting, there's a scene I'm trying to light in an indoors setting and it's as dark as the inside of my bum however much lights I put in the scene. Actually, it looks VERY oversaturated when my viewport is set to Texture Shaded and when I turn on Iray Rendering it's like the bums in the scene didn't pay their electrical bill. Anyway, here goes:
