Does anyone know how I can install renpy from Ubuntu?

Like any other software: either from Gnome Software, or from terminal (sudo apt-get install renpy* - with the asterisk, you'll also install demo, docs and The Question).

Why though? You would be forced to use

You must be registered to see the links

(see point 5). You can just visit renpy.org, download whatever version of the SDK you prefer, extract it and launch renpy.sh.
