Diamonds showing up black

Has anyone ever ran into the issue of diamonds show up black in Daz3d?

I've tried different shaders, but all diamonds show up black for some reason, no matter what shader I try.

It's got to be a setting somewhere, but I haven't been able to figure out what setting is causing it.

Thanks,

Mmmmm... it's estrange that even changing shader you don't see any change in object.
Are you applying shaders directly to object on scene tab or in specific surface in surfaces tab? What prop do you use for this diamonds?

I've tried both ways. I'm still narrowing it down. I changed the cutout opacity of the diamonds and the reflective to zero, and found that the gold metal behind it is the problem. The back and sides of the metal are good, they are gold. But the surfaces that have the diamond and reflective attached are black. Changing shaders does not solve it, even if I change to Daz shaders for gold, silver, or any other metal.

This is effecting every jewelry, in every product that I have. Every earing, braclet, necklace. No matter who made it. And it only effects the surface that the diamonds are on.

I try to reproduce your problem but no luck.

This is how I get:

You've tried to load again the earrings? When you load it, doesn't it show you any errors?

Yeah I don't get it. What version of Daz do you have 4.10 or 4.11?

Image above is from 4.10... now I tried it in 4.11 and seems that works well, but Iray preview takes longer to show, and the diamonds doesn't seems to show as good as in 4.10, but anyway 4.11 shows diamonds, not black.

I reccomend you to try it in 4.10.

BTW, are you tried to make test with different lights?

PD: Sorry for my english :p

Yeah just tried it in 4.10. Also created a new scene, different model, and different light. Same thing.

I'm not sure but some time ago I have some problems with some shaders and the problem was that daz needs some extra Nvidia MDL materials.

I can't remember for sure but I think I solved the problem installing this package (I upload it temporally to my mega):

Hope that help.

Update: Some more links if helps...

I don't know if the files are equals...

MEGA link seems that need to install into DAZ library but the two links above no... have you tried this?:
To use these shaders you MUST download and install the NVIDIA vMaterials located at:

If you do not have it installed all ready the vMaterials installer will prompt you to install the MDL Exchange.

The default install locations for these are:

vMaterials: C:\Users\(user)\Documents\mdl

MDL Exchange: C:\ProgramData\NVIDIA Corporation\mdl

Once you have vMaterials installed you need to get the base MDLs to be recognized by DazStudio

Move the vMaterials folder from its default location (\Users\(user)\Documents\mdl)
to your defalt DazStudio installation (C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\shaders\iray\nvidia)
You should notice abunch of other MDL files here. This is NOT your Content Library this is located under program files!!!)
(IF you did not install DazStudio to its default location your location may be diferent)

Second place the products in this ZIP file in your DAZ3D Library like you would any other item.
Third open your shader mixer in DazStudio and then use Edit > MDL Directory Manager and select
C:\ProgramData\NVIDIA Corporation

This should cover all your MDLs being detected by DAZStudio

I put outside of DAZ folder the "nvidia" folder that contains MDL Material to try to reproduce your problem, but the test with iray preview with daz 4.10 works well, so perhaphs this not solve your problem.

If the problem affects only one assets I tell you that try to reinstall it, but as you commented, this problem is with more assets, not only these earrings... so, perhaps reinstalling DAZ? Or you have a problem related to Uber shaders?
I'm not sure, I'm not an expert on that, sorry

I already uninstalled and reinstalled Daz. Thanks for your help. Now I'm looking at my own drivers for my GPU.

Would you be willing to test something for me? Can you render those earrings again, but make sure you render in scene only? I found that they show up great if I have it on dome and scene, but not if it's scene only.

Thanks,

Tested.

I had set dome and scene in the render that I upload before.
When I set if to scene only all turn black cause I haven't any light in scene, I've tested it with camera headlamp (I don't use this ever but for try) and JM Grid Softbox, this is the result:

Camera headlamp:

JM Grid Softbox:

So... it seems that you need to use dome or dome and scene for light :coldsweat:

That still shows up better than mine. Without dome and scene, even the gems are black. And this all new, cause it use to not do that at all. I had previous scenes where jewelry showed up great, and it was set to scene only. Something has changed within Iray or Daz.

Are you tried to reseting render settings?
Yeah...loaded a completely new scene, basic Gen8 female, and even different jewelry. Still a no go. This one really has me stumped.

I even uninstalled literally everything, and reinstalled DAZ with the basic packages that come with it, a jewelry package for testing, and updated my drivers. Still a no go.
