Recently, I am noticing a "terry cloth" effect on some clothing close ups. Note the left shoulder of Ellen's nursing uniform. This is from the i3 Nurse's Uniform for Genesis 3 characters. I have seen this once or twice in other outfits. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this, as it should be smooth as it appears from a distance. I can, of course, fix this in post in Photoshop/GIMP, but if I could figure out why it's happening, that would be better. Grazi.

I guess thats the bump or normal map (or both). They become more visible the closer the shot.
You can lower their values in the surface tab, or just click on the images and choose none.

Anyone had any luck installing the for ?

The base version works fine but if you try and use the iray version it says it's got a load of missing files, I've tried combining the two separate folder structures it gives you but with no success and also tried duplicating it in the default insall location (the mylibrary bit on your local user account).

I've never actually managed to install a .exe product and I really need this one

That does the same thing.
Could it be that you have the wrong lybrary? Like:
If not, give me a second. I wanted to install the library anyway for a while now^^

All the object previews match up and everything, there is a naming discrepancy (original is Library while the iray version is The_Library), that's the bit I can't figure out how to fix, I'm pretty sure the issue is that the addon is looking for files in the wrong location but I can't figure out how to recombine things to make it work.

Most iRay add-on's are updated surface shaders. Essentially they contain a new set of texture maps and surface settings, however do not contain the base geometry of the original product.

First thing to try is to load the scene using the original "The Library", then select in the scene tab, then apply "The Library Iray Addon".

The "old" Library was for DS< 4.5. There is a newer version I found which the addon is for.
Downloading right now, test it and give you an update.

Your advice was spot on. There was no bump map, but I cut the normal map to 0 and cut glossy roughness in half. This is the outcome, which I am very happy with. I wanted to stand down the seams, which this also accomplished. Thanks for the advice.

Guys i have 1 question, i recently got my hands on Daz 3D scene optimizer. So here's my question: when i optimize my scene reducing textures and geometry resolution do they get downgraded for the current scene only or they get downgraded permanently? like the script optimize the whole product and i get stuck with downgraded textures/geometry untill i unistall/reinstall the things optimized?

Scene optimizer will create new images in the same folder where the originals are, they are named like the original, but will have the resolution added to the name (for example if the original file is named torso_b.png, the new one will be torso_b 2048x2048.png), the original files wont be overwritten, but there is a checkbox somewhere if you want that.

If you save your scene, it will save all textures with it. So if you don't want to save it with the downgraded textures and geometrys, you should probably save before you start scene optimizer.

Go to your content library -> DAZ Studio Format -> My library -> Scripts -> V3Digitimes Scene Optimizer -> right click on the script you want to add and choose "Create custom action".
You should be able to choose the script directly from the top menu "Scripts"

You cant really as far as I know, but if you only use the scene navigator to select things, you could just use a different tool, like the animate tool. Because you cant select anything in the scene with this tool, it wont flicker.

Yeah I know what you mean, especially if there are a lot of assets in the scene it can quickly become a pain :/
