And I'd imagine a good chunk of his patrons found him here. That's how things usually work. The best devs accept that their game will be pirated, and, while they may not like it, realize that this piracy can be viewed as advertising, and leads to a larger income overall.

Put it this way - would you rather 1000 people play your game and you make $5000, or 100,000 people play your game, with 1800 patrons and $9000?

Figures pulled out of my butt
As other users have pointed out, this is also how I discovered this game and I have given him around 60$ over the course of a few months. I can't justify paying more than 60$ for what is basically a indie game. I gladly support things I like but I think there's a limit to how much support I'm willing to give. The problem overall isn't with Runey, it's with Patreon's monetization methods and a lot of users on f95 suddenly trying to hold everyones hand and preaching about "breaking saves" and whatnot. A disclaimer is all you need. Not the permission of a dev to PIRATE their game. I'm sorry if that's offensive but that's how it is. If someone bitches about breaking their save then you point out it had a chance to happen and tell them they are responsible for it. The dev, the website, and no other users are responsible.

I don't mean to be disrespectful, but you may be overestimating how much people read.

In game, it says "THE DREAMSCAPE AND EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS IN IT IS NOT CANON"

But there have been hundreds of mentions about "Since Ashley and I are married now..." or "You have a succubus in game, can we get a vampire?" or "I already had sex with Autumn in that event with Violet, but she's somehow still a virgin?" or "Why do I have two Jins in my game?" etc. Even if words are put literally seconds before the rest of the event, people will still not read it.

I've had to say dozens of times "I literally answered your question right above your post". People are blind as bats, or just can't read English.

I don't mean to say "We need to protect the idiots from themselves" or anything, I just mean to say that certain things can be avoided. That's why, even though I would lose a lot of money, I'm not against pre releases being leaked. They rarely have any bugs. Of course I would prefer nothing to be leaked. But it is what it is, it's a free game in the end.

I feel for you on that because I can't imagine replying to people like that over and over again. Honestly why don't you just ignore them? At that point it just seems detrimental to you entirely to constantly respond to people who just flatout don't put the effort into something to remain informed on it (not even educated, just know what's going on). If they can't read disclaimers then I doubt they bother reading the stuff you write.

Regardless though good luck on the development and I look forward to *whatever* version eventually leaks. I guess I'm special in the fact that I always back up saves for new releases, especially bug builds. Good game and add more of that dark elf and I'll resub on patreon for the 20$ edition whenever it releases. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that I appreciate that you take the time to be vocal with your community.

Maybe I'd just feel bad, but I typically don't ignore questions when I see them. I check every message on every platform I know HH is on frequently for either information gathering or (unintended) feedback. After all, it's rare for someone to talk shit about you right in front of you. (Or at least less common)

Saying what you dislike, or hate about something I do is just as important as saying what you like about something I do.

That's a pretty good outlook on things and it garners a lot of respect imo. The game has it's flaws (everything does) but you obviously make it with a passion and it's definitely one of the better games out there so I would say ignore the people just blatantly talking shit. Who am I to give advice though, you've clearly got a good grip on things. Anyway I'll be getting off for real this time. I intended my last post to be my final one today but I saw your reply just before I closed the window. Best of luck, again.

I think that's why I (and obviously a lot of others here since we're up to 500 pages almost on this game) like the game so much is because you do interact with people and look for feedback rather than hiding away in some private Discord chatroom that's moderated with only cheerleaders and diehards.

It's scary putting a project, your art, your creation out there and having people just shit on it (thankfully yours hasn't) but many developers (from every medium - porn games all the way up to AAA big studio video game developers) have thin skin and can't handle the questions and critiques because they take it too personally (ie the mindset of "How dare you criticize me? Who do you think you are?" Blah blah blah) when they could be using it as a way to get better and improve their product or creation.

Looking forward to v0.7 btw (y)

I'm New to having games updating every now and then. How do you back up saves? Its probably obvious but i don't want to mess things up and have to re download everything again. As much fun as it is to replay the whole game, lots of hours are lost trying to see whats new.

There is also a save folder inside the game folder ...\Harem Hotel X.X\Game\Saves.

I like to move them from the old version to the new one every time I update (I like to clean out the appdata folder myself), but as long as you keep the folder in the AppData folder, you should not have a problem.

Keep checking back to see if anyone was.... kind... enough to upload the newest update
Someone mentioned yesterday they would be uploading but that clearly hasn't happened. It's a shame as this is one of my favourite games on here but I'm not currently in a financial position to donate.

We pirates will just have to be patient.
