It honestly depends on where you live, and the scenario that is at play. For the scenario presented, I think it was actually pretty representative of what would have happened IRL, even if you swapped gender roles for the two parties. Usually what happens IRL is one party has a ton more income than the other, and there are no pre-nup assets to consider. Kids given priority live in the house, and most kids go with mother. Then Alimony and split everything else 50% down the middle.
True, but in many parts of the western world, especially in my part of the world, there is an inherent bias towards the female and against the male. The way the settlement was depicted in this story was both fair and reasonable and a fun read, my point was that unfortunately in many cases it didn't reflect real life.

In real life he likely wouldn't have bent over to take it when his wife cheated on him to end the marriage. Bias toward the female is very real, but in his circumstances (she cheated on him, she makes way more than he does, all the kids are adults so keeping the kids with mom in the family home not a legal issue) she'd have gotten screwed - if he hired a decent attorney.

Decided to do a walkthrough MOD for this one. Enjoy!

Edit: Updated to Ch. 1 v1.22 (Fixed a few errors in the code that were causing a gameplay loop. Cheers!)

Install: Extract to "game" folder, overwrite when prompted.

I never said it wasn't an overreaction - I merely stated that Abby does kick out Frank if you go off the happy path.
Yeah but that is something else as Frank behaving bad. It is Abby that is behaving bad by overreacting and pulling it all out of context. That is my point.

Hi Zoey, love all your WT and Mods.

Quick question, doe this mod incorporate the accepting Beth/Vanessa offer and the scenes and after visiting the girls as per this post? https://f95zone.to/threads/single-again-v0-6-clever-name-games.46941/post-3770308

Some info, Clever has redone the code for the name change not saving and says it's working, will test some more and get it out.

So hopefully name changing and saves will be good to go from here on out

I did not incorporate that modded script in my Mod. I did however account for both paths seperately within the mod, as the developer intended. Using that altered script file with my mod will likely break it. Also I would warn against using that modded script because unless it is maintained who knows how it will affect future events in the game and you may end up with a corrupted save file and have to start over. Or you may not, just a possibility.

I was thinking this exactly. Guess I'll just go the two saves route using your mod. Thanks for the reply and keep up the good work!

Actually the highlighted choice is to go with the Beth Scene because (obviously it has more content), but you can choose "Beth open the door", to see the other scene. I could have highlighted them both, but that would have been confusing, so I went with the better path IMO. But, like I said you can choose the other choice to see the other scene, there are no choices on that path, so there was nothing to mod.

This is the slowest paced game, all time, all my life.
Then I shall introduce you to Happy Summer.

Cute art style, nice funky custom UI, but absolutely ZERO progress towards "bang yer daughter like a rented drum". I've been waiting for the dev to give us some actual sex for like a year, but nothing yet. Yet another one of those games that I just check in every few updates and see if there's been any significant progress made.

At least in Single Again, we get cute naked girls to admire and a fairly nice storyline.

This is easily one of the better VNs I've played here recently. Decent story, good renders and animations, and (once I got used to the abnormally-large eyes) great looking character models. Abby is adorable as heck, Lil' small and feisty, and Becca is all-around sexy.

Can't wait for the rest of the story

Technical question about this game -
Custom naming doesn't seem to survive saves once you exit the game.

Tried finding the appropriate variable with Renpy Save Editor but all that shows is the previous dialog with my name in the field name area for some dialogue (not as a variable but a static variable name). SavedItOnline produced nothing useful from a save file.

Loving this game so far - just enough tease with an interesting story and amazing character depth for the genre - but my name isn't "Frank".

Any suggestions? How can I fix this so my chosen MC name survives in a save file after closing the game?

Hey everyone,
So there was an issue with saves not carrying over names that have been changed (fix one thing and find an new problem lol). So I redid the code for changing names as well as a couple other things.
Saves - I renamed the save file from "Single again 0.05 - random string of numbers" to "SingleAgain-Save". So it will be much easier to find.
Names - I tested 0.06.1 a few times with a mocked up version of 0.07 (basically just changed the version number and the title screen image). The custom names were carried over in the saves. So that should be fixed. The way naming is done will look the same but the code used to do it is different.
Previous Choices - I went through the game and added variables to choices that didn't have any before.
With these changes your going to have to start from the beginning again (Sorry).

To speed up getting back to where you were, go to preferences in game and click on "Unseen text" you can then use "Ctrl" to fast forward past text to the next choice menu.
Thanks everyone, let me know if you find anymore issues.

I've been adding variables to every choice since 0.05, weather I plan to do anything with them or not. I just went back and added them to the choices from 0.01-0.04.

i also have played this one and i have to even tho i like slow burn stories but this one is toooooo much of a slow burn but like you i check in every few updates cuz as i said i like slow burns

Happy Summer. is a story-free, character-devoid, all-grind life suck of a game with more details to worry about than real life and fewer rewards, strung together with a couple of all-promise/no-delivery graphics.

I'm surprised I don't have to worry about payroll contributions in withheld taxes in that game.

And I've had comments removed on the Discord behavior of the 'game' dev, but suffice to say nothing even a paying patron is going to change any of that.

Single Again, OTOH, has rich character development, a nuanced story that, despite its familiarity, has just enough realism and more than sufficient depth to properly realize a "slow burn". The only thing I can see so far as an improvement would be a soundtrack - music to start, maybe some canned effects. And if there were added v/o, it would be at the top tier of any game visible on this platform.

I get that it's different strokes for different folks, but there is no comparison to Single Again that Happy Summer could possibly make that would accurately do justice to the quality of Single Again.
