3D Model to 2D workflow?

Hi Everyone! So I'm a big fan of Taffy Tales and I noticed that since the later updates they've started using 3D models to optimize their workflows.

It made me wonder, how much more efficient is it to work 3D->Illustration instead of the classic Sketch->Illustration?
Anyone tried this?
If so, does anyone have a good workflow guide? I'd be very interested in hearing from you! Thank you!

Never try by myself. Bus as, with a 3d model, you don't have to start from nothing every time you need a new camera angle or a new pose, it must be a huge time saver.
