Overview:

We follow Kakeru Niimi, a man who can be a bit curt at times but who has a strong sense of responsibility and a kind heart. Kakeru's ordinary life is thrown into chaos after the local shrine's sacred relic shatters. In the wake of this event, several young men and women awaken to superhuman abilities.

What was once a run-of-the-mill life in a run-of-the-mill town soon turns into a quest to track down a superpowered serial killer before they can strike again.​

maybe it's the font used on this site but i first read that as "a man who can be a bit of a cunt at times"

At least I think so. When looking at CG of the game posted here I see that the sister does indeed have scenes but unless I get to playing it I can't tell you for sure.

My first thought as well. The sure outdo themselves with those characters.
Probably a cultural ideal.
Of course, then there's those VNs where the character is a sadistic psychopath or disillusioned asshole. But in the latter case that might just be a front.
Now, then we'll just need to differentiate between capable MC, sometimes bordering on Mary Sue, and incapable/not yet capable MC that keeps trying against the odds and eventually succeeds. Wonder which it is here.
