Game version: Episode 8
The game has an interesting concept and execution. It is incredibly long for the space it takes up.
The pros are clear:
- Interesting concept and complex storyline
- If you like naturally assembled harems or less naturally monogamous relationships.
- Superpowers are present at every turn, although they are not shown that often.
- Nice-looking character models and good animations.
- A strong, intelligent, and perceptive main character (MC).
However, there are also cons:
- Right from the start, the action sometimes jumps around, and what happened is not clearly explained. For example, the MC meets a friend who faked his death and MC asks him for help with a dirty job. Then, we see him digging a grave for his friend. We don't know exactly what happened for a long time, and when we do find out, it's not shown very well. This isn't the only situation like this.
- The MC's character: At first, he seems to be a law-abiding, well-trained professional with a good moral compass—or at least without cruelty or a lack of empathy. Then, as others also noticed, he turns into a manipulative jerk and a bit of an idiot who blows things out of proportion. His approach to women is strange because it's neither cold nor warm. He talks and behaves as if he can't control his feelings or desires for certain women. Additionally, the MC teases the LI in an implausible way. He doesn't realize that he shouldn't do this to people who take him literally.
- LI characters: It's difficult to fully enjoy these characters either. Even though they represent women who have been through a lot in a somewhat apocalyptic world, the portrayal of their emotions doesn't quite fit. As I wrote above, the MC doesn't help in this regard. Sue is the best example. She's supposedly head over heels in love with the MC and very horny for him, yet she comes off as somewhat mean and not very smart. She's a little annoying, not only to us, but also to other LIs. Yet, the reactions seem to indicate that she's a very sincere and loving person, which somewhat contradicts what we see. This is not the only example; there are others. Overall, the LI characters are difficult, and the portrayal of emotions, such as liking or loving, is flawed. The text clearly shows what we are supposed to see.
- Chemistry between characters: This relates to what I wrote above; it's weak and dull.
- Attitude toward "The Organization" and Government: Before retiring, MC was an exceptional employee, but his solutions here are embarrassingly weak. Although I understand he managed to stop the flow of knowledge at the lowest level, this level causes MC too many problems. The solution of living in MC's house while he stalls and plays for time is weak and the Organization pays all of MC's expenses. Additionally, the MC should clearly keep in mind that, in the event of a conflict, he is on the side of the girls against his country, with the Organization at the forefront. However, the MC doesn't seem to realize this. I don't know what he's thinking in a situation where conflict is almost inevitable once the authorities find out. Who would allow a person with superpowers to live normally in a world where only they have them?
- Antagonist: There's not much to say yet, except that it's bad because the antagonist gives the MC power to grow stronger and defeat him. Of course, it's not easy—maybe even impossible—but the nine women still have very limited knowledge of the antagonist. No one realizes that things could have ended in their favor from the beginning if another LI had gone with ML.
- Sex and Fetishes: The MC behaves like a selfish jerk. For some reason, oral sex was rare in the eight episodes. The MC "licked" a woman once, which is strange considering the relationship between the MC and the LIs. It should have been an icebreaker to relax LIs, but they jumped straight to sex.
In summary: Despite its flaws, the game plays well, but only because the action is fairly static and hasn't developed enough. The organization continues but believes less and less in the MC's lies, which makes no sense because the MC now has the superpower of a much more efficient brain. Yet, a regular employee is causing him problems. Either get rid of him or neutralize him somehow. The antagonist has not appeared yet, making the action resemble a supernatural slice of life.
Four stars because it's still playable and engaging.
