A set of tools for developers of Ren'Py, Daz Studio, and other 18+ engines — does the community need it?

Hello!

I am a developer myself and know how much time is spent on routine tasks when creating 18+ games and visual novels.

I am thinking about creating a set of ready-made tools/scripts that could speed up the work.

I want to understand if this is interesting to you and what you would be willing to pay for it.

Examples of what could be included in the package:

For Ren'Py: ready-made save systems, a quick project skeleton with a menu, auto-generation of a scene gallery, an improved dialogue selection system, ready-made mini-games (card games, “search for items”).

For Daz Studio: automation of frame series rendering, a package of ready-made light and camera settings, a script for mass export of renders in the desired format and resolution.

For scripts: a generator of dialogue and branching templates, integration with AI for rough drafting of descriptions and events.

General: tools for automatic cutting, renaming, and organizing content, mini-editors for editing text/scripts.

If you are interested in this topic, please write what tasks you would like to automate and how much you would be willing to pay for such a package.

This will help us understand whether it is worth starting development.

It might be worth it for the absolute newbie, but most of this stuff is already either included with the software/assets (e.g. Save system for Ren'py) or is easy enough to good and find. Ready-made minigames isn't the worst idea, but most of the 'premade' minigames for Ren'Py are largely sold via Patreon accounts. The other issue with it is that they'll just turn into the stimuli animations, over-used and easily recognizable as many devs almost certainly won't adjust or design their own assets specifically for it.

The key issue is - why would anyone pay for it? There's assets/tools/etc. that do all of this either for free or at a decent price already. It'd be one thing if it were just a free package of all the assets that do this stuff, but I have a very hard time seeing this being financially viable when alternatives (and likely better ones) already exist.

My advice? Make things that don't exist yet, or things that aren't addressed/made well. Then sell them on Patreon or whatever platform you want.

I think you'd have a hard time finding anyone using them even if they were free.

The only exception which sounds interesting (at least to me who has never used Daz much) is the stuff for Daz Studio.

Yeah, but even then, Render Queue does all of what he's talking about. As for the light sets, there's hundreds of those. Both of which are fairly cheap at this point.
