It is very tempting for developers to introduce different levels for supporters in order to generate more revenue. There are always people who think the experience offered by a particular game is worth a lot of money. And I'm talking about people who pay $50 a month or more to be close to the game's development, get first-hand information, and yes, influence the gameplay.
And that's exactly the problem with these V+ supporters. The idea of high revenues is tempting, but the downside is that as a developer, you give up control.
If you, as a developer, lose 10 $5 supporters because they are dissatisfied, that's $50 a month, which is manageable if your supporter base is large enough, but if that's 10 V+ supporters, that's already $600 and not funny at all.
His “small patrons” are not the problem, his V+ supporters are the problem.
Under certain circumstances, and L&P is one such case, a developer becomes dependent on precisely these supporters (V+) because they have too small a supporter base and these supporters have a significant influence on development by threatening to withdraw their support.
L&P has fallen into this trap and can't get out of it, and we have to live with such decisions – like Dylan, who is now popping up everywhere.
