I think you should look twice at the image because you are missing something.
I think his point is that using bright color for "empty" part of the circle and "light" color for the filled one is counter-intuitive on dark background because it's "backward" to what you'd expect.

It works "as intended" when the background is bright/white:

but then a supposed perfectionist should at the very least check what it looks like in dark mode, and realize that making the background transparent in that .png isn't a good idea.

TIL F95 has a *non* dark mode!

Lol

Or was that a screen grab from Patreon?

It was "open image in new tab" which fills the background of transparent .pngs with their default, iirc. But yeah, if i'm not mistaken this is made with Patreon in mind which uses "light mode" at least by default.

You know what I do with internet blogging... I knew all along that HP was deceiving us. You saw how they were clearly intentionally skipping walls, meaning video and photo frames... How else can you explain the fact that there are no frames between 1568 and 1569, even though the index is there? They clearly didn't mention that you have to pay for this, just for a couple of photos.

Well, do those sites have a dark mode? By the way, it looks perfectly fine on a dark background, I've just seen the image here and it does not look counter-intuitive. See this:
Even with dark background, the light circle means empty, not done, then a blue portion goes over it (with its borders overlapping) to signal the completed percentage. It looks OK. I mean, I would not want him to waste even a minute to rethink this graphics, just concentrate on the game.

I understand that people like to criticise L&P for anything but come on, don't exaggerate.

"The light circle means empty" is what is counter-intuitive on dark background -- normally, you'd want the "not filled" part of progress bar to be somewhere between the actual background and the "filled" color, in terms of intensity. But this arrangement has it opposite, with the much brighter color meaning "not done", contrary to what people have been conditioned to see in all other places with typical UI elements.

That's what I do! I like to poke fun at inconsistency and we've got time to kill. Plus looking at it again on my phone it really does look wrong lol but the light background that was posted is a lot better, some things just get lost in translation.
