Ren'Py - A Wife's Phone [v0.6.5] [Bloody Ink/Scyxar Studios]

It's sad that I can't give this more than a 3 star, because it's a lot of fun and has a lot of content in it. But sadly there are many bugs that spoil the experience for me. The main one being the fact that in a lot of conversations the pictures don't pop up. I then have to check through the gallery, and of course I have no idea who is who because there far too many girls to choose from on there.

I think if this bug was cleaned up so that pictures always popped up in the chats, and less girls were included it would be a much better game.

This has been a roller coaster of an experience. I used to love this game, however I did prefer before when it was a disjointed, comical mess, but you didn't really lock yourself out of anything. Sadly with 4.7 you end up spending a lot of time trying to get to content through the numerous story lines, and if you're racing through the game with skip, knowing what you're doing, and just forwarding time over and over, it's still a 1-2 hour commitment. That is when everything races by at "instant" speed.

The game has a major change between intro gameplay, presenting WifeSpy and your home screen as something entirely different from what it will be in main gameplay. You end up with a bunch of apps on your phone that you'll not use, sticking generally to the newer apps you get later.
Why do there need to be two separate maps? You'll be using the second map in the post intro, but then almost never go to it again when you're in the midgame, because it serves no function except for interacting with George and Mark, despite everything in mid and late game just skipping the map entirely and progressing without the unnecessary system.
The internet stopped functioning a couple updates ago, since OnlyFaps got introduced. You use it to find a job, find a place for Lana to live and you have one interaction to learn how to make money. It used to be a place to share your wife's nudes, but now the internet may as well no longer exist.
There is an app you manually add to find other couples to bang, but in my last 30 playthroughs it's just gone to a blank screen and the content you used to get through it just happens in messaging.

So, that's just my 2 cents on the waste of space the MC's home screen contains, you'll end up using Messaging and Fuckstagram constantly along with WifeSpy, OnlyFaps in the late game, the debt payment (although you can just never pay), and the internet and map a couple of times in the early game. Changing the time of day, the branches guide and photos are all usable, after that everything else just takes up space and most of it isn't functional.

When you've played the game a few times there is a good chance you will absolutely HATE Fuckstagram and Hypno Spam, both introduce a bit of content but lead to constant, unnecessary, annoying indicators. Their only fuctions seem to be to fill out time when all branches require 4-10 days for any updates, causing the game to be a serious grind when you stop actually appreciating the indicators for useless content.

WifeSpy actually seems like a waste of time as increasing things like Blowjob, Anal, and Group don't actually seem to progress the character's desires to do those things, instead you can max EVERYTHING out on a character and then you're waiting for Jenna to send the character messages because having these maxed out doesn't seem to do much. It would be nice if I maxed out Cheating on my wife I didn't have to go through part 90 in some branch to get her to stop saying "OMG I'd never cheat" despite her getting hypno spam every 4 days that tells her to cheat. The feedback just isn't there when you actually play the game enough.

Finally, get used to "Progress other branches" if you look in the branches guide. There isn't indication of what branches to progress, and instead people have to come over to this discussion and ask what they need to do, because, go figure, you need to progress some seemingly random branch for things to move forward.
Luckily this section lets you avoid certain characters or storylines you might not like, eg the MC's mom can just safely be shut off entirely if you don't enjoy that questline.

Overall, I liked the quirkiness before, and really hate that sections of the game get invalidated through updates, but remain because the creator needs to keep churning out new content instead of spending the time to go back and fix the system.
But, at the same time, Casey Calvert is an angel and she just makes this game great as a wife for NTR content. Chef's kiss.

I was very frustrated while writing the last version of my review so I will try to be more objective now.

First and foremost, this game is a flawed masterpiece. The writing is one of the best I have seen in porn games but the bugs and game structure make it as annoying as it could get.

The picture selection and build up to hot content are top notch and definitely a pinnacle of this game. Also a wide selection of paths will make most players satisfied. Your wife can fuck your brother, her boss, random people, her stepson.

The first problem I have is that the game doesnt inform you that you lock yourself in one of 4-5 paths, which differ a lot, in first 15 minutes of gameplay. It causes strange things like paths disappearing from your phone randomly which looks like bug but really isnt.

Secondly, bugs, there are many. Few crucial paths just wouldnt progress even when all requirements were met. I had to edit my save in order to progress.

The pacing is also very weird. You cannot progress any path you want as you wish as the game tries to make the corruption believable and not make a situation when the wife jumps on someones cock on one path and acts like a good wife on the other. It causes a big problem, the first like 10 hours is a blue ball fest.

I've never seen a developer intentionally tank his own creation to such an extent. A Wife's Phone is a NTR 'texting' game with embedded real-porn vids and pictures, focusing heavily on interracial kinks. There used to be a ton of flexibility and decisions for players to pick and choose what they liked and didn't like.

In recent updates, however, the dev has stripped away all customization and placed the game on three or four linear paths: Cuck/Sissy/Alpha/Transformation. You pick one of those paths, and then the game carries on with little to no input from the player. For a game with a massive amount of 'clicking' (I'm not exaggerating, carpal tunnel awaits if you try multiple playthroughs), this is an incredibly poor decision.

I would have given this 4-4.5 stars as of v.4.5. As it currently stands, at v.4.8? Give it a pass. There are plenty of NTR games that don't take hours and hours to deprive you of any ability to impact the game.

How incredibly disappointing and frustrating! This is a GREAT concept and it starts off very promising, but the constant day/night switching, the constant of adding irrelevant side characters, and soooo many 'blue balling' when they set up a sexy scenario, just to lead to nothing? This had all the makings of a top tier game but the gameplay gets more frustrating the further you get. It's unnecesary

It's a Decent NTR Game. My only and biggest complaint about this game is the Wild Inconsistencies. The Story just doesn't make any sense at times. For Example: We see the wife cheating multiple times on the MC, but later on she is shy about giving someone else a BJ. Inconsistencies like this really ruin it for me.

A Wifes Phone is one of the few Renpy games that actually made me forget that I am playing a Renpy game, because its UI is so good. it simulates the phone of the protagonist as you delve into the story in which you happen to stumble across an app which is capable of influencing the minds of others...who will you influence in what way? thats up to you. This games revolves heavily around the kinks NTR, blacked and (optional) sissification.

The pros:
A huge variety of story branches, which in return branch further into multiple roots.
The selection of pictures and videos is done very well.
The games pacing is just right, not too. fast nor too slow.
the overall setting is very erotic and (for the most part) believable (aside from the mind control app being a thing in of itself)

The cons:
currently, I see two issues with the game:
1. the games branches are too disconnect from each other, or rather the MCs opinion about whats happening is. The MC can be fuming about the attempts of Jenna to corrupt the MC's wife into liking BBC whilst simultaneously whoring her out with black man for her only fans. This could be fixed with something like variables which keep track of MCs agreeability.
2. whilst the fact that something like a mind control app is already a bit of a stretch in terms of believability, an app that can magically change your gender sure is even more so. right now there are branches relying on this app to just magically work, but at least for me it seems too absurd. Maybe instead of another app one could include other things such as syringes, machines or skin suits that fuse with the wearer. Literally anything is more believable than an app suddenly changing your junk down there with no apparent reason.

Overall: I like the game a whole lot and I am curious for what it will have in store in the future!

This is truly the best game. so much effort has been put into it, so much content and options. Thanks to the developer. I hope you will continue to please and develop for a long time. There are still many development options

Overall, I like the game, but due to its size, complexity, and the fact that English is not the author's first language, there are many errors, inconsistencies, and annoying elements.

- the frequent use of the word “pleasure” is damn annoying.
- why can't the player block Jenna?
- why, when “hypnotizing” characters, should the player go to someone’s profile and constantly view this message?
- before the latest “fix” of the game, the player could cheat on his wife and at the same time be on the “cuck route”, where the wife sleeps with others with his consent.
Now, if you are on the “cuck route,” content with other women is blocked.
- Why give the player the ability to block individual character paths if it blocks the main story?
For example, I don't like Greg and Mark, and I blocked their routes, but then I realized that in order to move forward with the plot, I need to follow their story.
etc.
I will add that the routes lack flexibility and choices.
The game gives you several choices at the very beginning, after which, once you take a certain route, the story becomes quite linear.

Until the game is fixed and my save file I spent hours on is fixed this game will remain at a 1 star, garbage. I'm not replaying the whole thing because this dude decided to break the whole game. "end route" button doesn't work, restart doesn't work, no more pause for content you don't want to engage with, wife is no longer in the phone, and before anyone says that I just need to restart the game on skip, you need to also use the brainwashing crap which means you have to click around on every single person and click on the brainwash texts to corrupt them all over again, hundreds of times. No thanks. Fix this shit or I'm out for good.

I've followed this game for quite a while and even contributed a bit at early stages, and while it's far from perfect the dev gets major points from me for his consistency of effort. However, if I were to come to this game in its current state for the first play through I'd be removing at least half a star. There are simply too many logical oversights, and I feel that a lot of the problems and regressions in the codebase have been introduced due to how ambitious its dev is. Bugs have also been an issue at times, although patches are released quite quickly and publically.

For those unfamiliar with this project, it's an extremely lengthy phone simulator with a cuckolding/sluttification focus. Although there are other playstyles available, I think that if I didn't like those things I might be a bit unsatisfied. The smut is largely real porn images and videos.

With that out of the way, most of the rest of this review is going to be fairly critical. That's not because I dislike the game, but more because it was a game that I liked very much but which I find myself consistently less excited about.

So, my complaints:
1. There are simply too many characters and too many variations of path to iron out with the game's substantive and consistent release schedule. Very often you'll encounter situations where back-to-back conversations with the same character make little-to-no sense simply due to collisions occurring in two distinct paths for one or more characters.
2. The day cycle for event propagation is initially immersive and then fairly frustrating as you advance time hoping to see the continuation of certain paths, to the extent that I downloaded an autoclicker.
3. Another disadvantage of the number of characters and paths is that I eventually found myself having to disable a huge number of paths in the info submenus as I found that they were distracting me from what I considered the core paths. These would pop up as I advanced time, and I found myself with an inbox containing a mixture of conversations I was looking forward to and "junk mail" that I would be forced to not only read but also seek out on other phones.
4. The interface is decentralized and, at times, opaque. There are also a number of app icons that exist either as one-offs or as nonfunctional flavor images. The chief offender, interface-wise, for me, however, is your home screen messages icon, which always indicates that I have a new message even when this is not the case.

With that said, I did really love playing this game early on. Some of the conversations with my wife (whose name is, thankfully, dynamic, and I don't remember encountering any hard-coding errors during my playthroughs, which is surprisingly unusual -- in a good way!) were very hot and lent themselves very well to my imagination. The buildup was great, even if the pacing was a bit uneven and my character seemed a little MPD depending on what branch we were on. As a side-note, the black bar picture conversations were exceptional! I supported this project because I felt the dev "got it" and I was hopeful for its future.

I think the wide-spread issues with this game are largely due to decisions that cannot be clawed back at this point without upsetting multiple substantial segments of its fanbase. If I were to request anything at this point it would be:
- Please do your best to prevent adding additional scope to the storylines at this point. As the story progresses, the trees these branches are building will require either exponential work or aggressive (and, for your audience, upsetting) trimming.
- Introduce a timeskip feature.

With that said, thank you for all your hard work. I look forward to checking out this game once its in a more completed state, and I think your future projects will likely be very amazing for your experience with this one.

For a realporn game, it's not awful, gif/image selection are decent.

UI/UX is pretty good, except when you run into the path-conflicting bugs.

It's a nice idea at its core, using the phone to manipulate other's stats and paths, however, overall this experience is quite lacklaster as the player's interactions with the phone modules often don't carry over to the rest of the story.

In other words, you can set the phone stats in a manner which would indicate the wife being a cheating harlot, but depending on separate choices she may come off as a loyal housewife. Alternatively (and a bigger incongruence), you can set the phone stats in a manner which would indicate a faithful wife, yet all the other dialogue in the game from other npcs would indicate MC is a sucker being deceived. It feels very jarring and disconnected.

Overall, the only players I'd recommend this to are those with a heavy interest in wife cheating/cuckoldry/corruption specifically of the interracial variety - the bbc fetishism is pervasive throughout the game regardless of player choice, OR players who have an interest in m-to-f transformation type stories specifically with family members.

For players with interests other than those two, I would definitely avoid this.

The best thing about this game is shutting it off after 3 hours to find some Casey Calvert porn. Too many branches, too many women, and too many antagonists. This whole game is like a shitty fever dream.

The experience of this game is way too schizophrenic to be enjoyable. The themes, characterizations, and statuses of different branches are too different at any given point of time, even when they are relying on each other to progress, and it makes it impossible to actually track a coherent thread through everything. The fact that all of that is buried in an interface that requires a ton of clicking to move everything forward without anything in between is all the worse. There isn't a reason to interact with so many elements of the phone, save for one-off bits and pieces that haven't been fleshed out, and you need to skip so many days to move some threads forward.

I like some of the characters in some of the branches, but it's all too messy and disorderly to be a satisfying experience.

I really tried to like this, i swear but this is just so a big mess. Its like others review say. The game is so confused and bad designed that im not even sure if its bugged or not and im not sure how to even explain what is bad because it looks like everything is wrong.

I usually like to explain with details what games does good or bad but i just finished playing after around 3h of tedious click, 0 options, confused content, unvoluntary content you cant avoid and almost 0 scenes worth and i dont want to make an analysis in a game that dont even the dev made one.
This game kind of has "content" like vids or pics but its just pasted in front of you with no reason or context or care at all, for example your wife's friend send your wife a tons of vids and pic but wth, one or two time its ok to have that conversation but they are like that for HOURS, i dont care, MOVE ON.

I basically agree with others low rate reviews, i cant recommend this, it feels annoy, unwanted content (i dont even mean about ntr or not, i mean about the game doing whatever it wants and showing you whatever it wants) and meanless grind, for real, explain why i have to wait 7 OR 3 DAYS, i have to click 4 times or so TO WAIT ONE DAY and then my reward is just to get a little of dialogue and then do it again for the next WHY???

Its all so bad...

This is the game that has kept me on F95zone and is my favorite game, hands down. Like many NTR games, it has two main paths to play: the "Alpha" and "Cuck/Beta" way. Aspects of both paths can be mixed around. In my personal opinion, it has a nice mix of fetishes and focuses, even if I personally have no interest in sissification.

Subjective opinions below:

Positives:
- The in-phone game concept works amazingly well with the game's themes.
- Fetish selection includes NTR, cheating, cuck, size play, and swinging.
- Less rapey NTR focus than many other games I have played; characters are seduced or, at the very least, consenting in the scenes (if you ignore the mind control aspects).
- If you don't like the focus of a given branch or any other thing about it, you can simply pause it in an in-game app.
- Real live scenes that fit quite well.
- The story, characters, and their interactions are often not just hot but also decently engaging and interesting.
- Very large game with a lot of content and differing branches, allowing you to focus on whatever aspects of the game you like, with the multiple choices requiring more than one playthrough to experience everything.

Negatives:
- Bad UI; in most cases, it truly is the most basic version of a phone app. Images are all just text like "image.png" unless clicked, and notifications and unread messages aren't particularly intuitively displayed (bad QoL).
- The game uses a variety of stats for its characters, which can be directly influenced by the player. As far as I can tell, these stats barely and very rarely matter, especially if you continue to progress through the game.
- It's tedious. Many branches are spread over the duration of in-game months, which require ridiculous amounts of clicking and skipping, especially as there are often infinitely repeating or otherwise story-irrelevant messages that aren't really marked as such unless opened.
- The story branches aren't particularly in sync with one another, having your wife switch from openly cucking you to never having had sex with another man, being a QoS and never having had sex with a black man, etc. These things reduce the immersion of the story and are especially annoying if they take you from the "juicy parts" back to the annoying buildup.
- The game loves slow building and useless talk between the characters; there is a lot of text with no real reason to ever read in the game.
- Still quite rapey in its content, with some characters just sleazy and unlikeable (and not in the good, immersive story kind of way).
- Too many branches; there are multiple characters and storylines which I simply cannot get myself to care about in the very least.
- Branches "fighting": similar to the branches not being in sync, some of them can feel contrived or confusing as to how they connect, as the MC can simultaneously be very submissive, happy, and consenting as a cuckold enjoying being controlled while still wanting to get revenge, stop being controlled, and hurt the responsible character.

There are more points for both, but I want to get to the conclusion:

It's a fetish porn game, and for me, it does that very well. If you like cuck/cheating content and are alright with BBC and QoS content, this is an amazing game, even with its issues.

The developer just seems to have been quite inexperienced at the start and never had the time to go back and resolve the issues coming from such a convoluted story and its multiple branches. They also never really bothered with improving the UI or removing aspects of the game along the way, as stats would raise the variations in the story to near-infinite and impossible to deal with.

Just played the latest update. Easily the worst one to date, cuck path contains no actual cuckold action just swinging/fam content, images and videos some are new some are rehashed from parts of the core game. Waiting on a bug fix for the sissy path to make it playable. Still lots of issues that don't actually fit with the path your on

A story that you can create from a lot of available options!
A bunch of genres are around the storyline!

So far the game feels like complete mess because of these issues:

• Your choices to avoid certain routes don't matter. The reasons for this aren't clear it could be either bugs or intended gameflow.
• Some of these routes shouldn't start or at least progress if you don't have certain stats but it keeps going.
• Routes are coincidental and every route ignores existence of other routes.
• So it causes chronological mess where multiple Jennas each texting multiple wives and all of them living through different events in life.
• Control app feels more like simple spy app. As was said earlier stats don't matter after certain point of the game and after that app can't control a thing. And if the route starts there will be no way to stop it(you can pause it but it's a debugging tool)
• Spamming feature is a true spam, as u need either ignore the ! mark over the app or periodically "reed" the messages of all your subjects (there should be an option "mark as seen"). Or spam shouldn't be marked as an important thing to check.
• The debt to collect that amount of money just the half of the problem, transferring will take far more efforts. Somehow this goal to reach feels awkward.

As it have been said by many users: game feels like at some point you (as player) loose control over the game and game merges into kinetic novel.

But the concept: the design of game "in the phone" with texting/sexting - is good. Feels like somewhere on the stages of development dev stepped into the wrong direction.

This game started out as a 5/5 for me. Maybe 4/5. And the early content still is. The images chosen are great, the dialog and situations get pretty hot, the characters are consistent, the game does a good job of sticking to its premise (doing things with a phone), the bugs are few and far between given the number of hours you'd be playing. It was borderline addictive to play, and I always looked forward to updates.

There were issues, sure. The stories sometimes diverged and created weird situations - like a loyal loving wife ready to tell you everything and only do things together (or after discussions) who has a simultaneous thread where she's just cheating on you with a ton of guys and lying about it. That gets a bit weird but its not earth shattering. You just kinda play each branch out and mentally handle the discrepancy because it is just a game.

And if you stick to the early parts of the game (which is a Lot of content), that's great. But. ..

Eventually you hit this point where things just suddenly shift gears under you. And it is sudden, and it is super-jarring. The app seems to stop really doing anything other then spying on what's happening. Almost all the important characters you'd built up to have a strong relationship with you seemingly start to ignore you. Bad things happen to them, stuff you may want to happen, or stuff you may want to skip / avoid, but your app no longer seems able to do anything but let you watch the trainwrecks. One of the characters starts messaging you to taunt you about how everything is collapsing, and you (the player) just have to sit there and stare... Wondering why your Control App seems to be useless, wondering why you don't seem to have any meaningful choices anymore, and wondering why the game seems to be taunting you (the player) about not being able to actually 'do' anything in the game.

It.. it just gets weird. It put me (the player) into a pretty unpleasant headspace rather then a hot one. And I don't mind any of that content, my reviews are full of games I love with that kind of content. But its like you're on the highway enjoying the wind in your hair when suddenly you're off the road, there's just air under your tires, and somehow your engine is on fire. Fun if you're playing mario kart from the beginning, weird when you thought you were taking a scenic route to go hiking.

I'll check back in from time to time, look at the changelog, and if it seems promising I'll try it again and update this review accordingly. Right now just.. I guess play it but when that feeling I mentioned kicks up just don't feel bad about pulling the ripcord before you get too frustrated.
