Hey,

I read a lot the reviews before i try a game, not sure i have the majority ^^ and i though about something and wanted to discuss with you guys.

I have categorized people in X categories:

- The majority like 50-60% of people will overate (or rate i don't have to judge) a game because they enjoy graphics above all. If your game has a ton of beautiful renders that's all those people care about. I get it we male have a strong visual stimuli driven sexuality. But what about the others stuff a game need? gameplay? story? etc... They don't really care.

- The Story driven user: If you have an average story which look like some other 10 games, you are gonna take some shit! They don't like inconsistency, it's like a sin for them. They love intriguing, new, well written stories. I guess if we want only porn there is some website for this ;) But generally those people are totally unaware that some stories even common are CLASSIC. You can't argue against classics...

- The Scientific method way: They have a well structured format. They go in depth on all the aspect of a game. They have generally a good culture of adult games and compare them. That's a category i like to read a lot because they looks like me a bit ^^ But what they lack of or fail to read in a game is the attachment, the implication of a player in those softs. Sometimes the female characters are their girlfriend in their mind so...

- The fan boy: Hey we need those, but they are oblivious to any form of criticism. Generally they are limited to 5 stars because there is not a 6th ahahaha.

- The English professor: (i'm already sorry for those guys with my bad mastery of this language). Generally they are playing with their dictionary , looking for errors in the text and forgetting everything else. I'm not sure they enjoy themselves playing ahaha. But god sometimes they are so much needed to point out the flaws of a game. In adult game 90% of the game is text and if that's bad... No need to explain more.

- The angry guy: Hey the update is too slow, the author has forgotten some bugs etc.... i don't have anything to say positively for this category... or anything at all to say.

- (Special category) The guy like me which is not an english speaker and try to write and we don't get it... Its engrish is so bad you can't stop laughing at it.

- (Thx to pailbat) "The Fetishist". Most of my reviews are gushing about how well a game does my fetishes, and why. Not a lot of 3-stars or less because 1. I tend to find games I will enjoy playing, and filter out the rest, and 2. I'm playing it for free so I'd feel like a ****bag being overly critical unless the dev really, really cocked it up.

So that's it i think but i hope you guys will find some more! And i wish to discuss about that with you. Perhaps can we try to guess the % of population for each?

This post is free for all, we can discuss anypoint you want and make the discussion moving the way you guys want.

PS: We need more work on those reviews! 3 lines for a game is limit a disrespect of the author work and sweat!

i wish more people understood this. Although i dont mind short reviews but being a new game dev myself i wish people understood a bit more about dev emotions hahaha
you learn so much new stuff , put your time and effort and finally release your game so excited and people don't even bother to write few lines. i mean its okay if you dont want to support on patreon or join discord but you can at least write something about the game , even if it is negative lol

Anyways i think there should be a upvote and downvote option for reviews instead of like button to make it more clear that a person is writing a sensible review and he is not just some fanboy or a complete hater

What's with the sexist stereotypes? I have a penis and enjoy several text-only games. I'll trade in art for good writing any day.

Yeah that's right, i have forgotten that. Fetish are important for people sure!

It's not a sexist stereotype but a generalization. That's a know fact by psycho science and all that

Sure, but when I generalize, I like to say "most" instead of lumping in everyone who doesn't fit the mold. It helps to clarify that I'm generalizing and not actually referring to every person in that demographic.

I'd consider myself to be a bit of a mix, I'm probably, english cat, story driven and humour. I love to add a bit of humour in my reviews.

Unless all you want to do is praise the game in a 5-star review, I think reviewers should take the time to write down constructive criticism. It could really make a difference because it's a good way for the devs to hear about stuff they probably won't hear from the 5-star reviewers. Unless the devs are overly sensitive to criticism, they can find even a 1-star review to be a good thing, depending on the reviewer. Being blessed with mostly good reviews, I even look forward to getting bad reviews because I'm want to improve my game and sometimes a harsh critic is your best friend in that regard. That being said, I look forward to reviews praising the game too (don't want to discourage anyone ;)).
