H.265 and AV1 are the "new" (since 2013!) codecs that are sucessor to the old H.264. I'll put aside the technical details (check the Wikipedia page for H.265
, but basically H265 have a way better compression rate expect a file around 50 % smaller than a H264 for the same quality. You can then make better quality videos while being smaller.
Anyway, it's sadly not a common format as devices *used* to not support it... Most modern devices support H265 so you can safely used it! Creators are still doing H264 either because they fear people won't be able to use it or because they just... don't know well H.265.
Either way, OP is doing a very good work and he's even sharing his handbrake setting meaning: you can also make your H265 transco. If you don't want to bother use his files, you won't lose quality but you'll save space!
