Version: 0.1.9a
Really well done game. Most game game I've played here as of this post, but the H-scenes could use a lot of improvement.
[Story]- Quite funny, and there's a lot of backstory being explored even in this early version. In this version, it seems like it's just at the beginning of the overall plot, not much to say about that. The dialogue gets a bit wordy, and I ended up doing some skipping.
[Gameplay]- I really like the time limit mechanic. It's really just fun, and, as long as you earn money(pretty much all the time), you really won't ever be in any danger of reaching it. It really is sandboxy. Events are unlocked as you earn the girls' affection, but you can't miss anything, as each event will continue to pop up until you activate it. The in-game "event tracker" is also very nice to go to to check what you need to progress. The game offers more than one method to earn money/items, and that's nice, because I didn't really like the combat.
That's not to say that the combat system is bad. In fact, it's the best one I've seen on f95 so far. It has strategic depth and the interface and battles are very modern. However, while there's both controller support and keyboard controls, they're buggy and cumbersome. Well, it's just downright buggy atm. When I try to select bottom row targets(with the keyboard, and the controller, because it really just inputs keyboard presses), it tries to open menus; so Mouse is the only way to play and it's slow. What I'd like are keyboard commands for all the menu selections (like q for attack, a for skill, and so forth...) to increase combat speed, because as it is, selecting commands is just too slow. It'd also be nice if there was an option to just turn combat speed Up, which currently is only available in auto-battle.
More on combat. In this version, the other characters were unlocked too late, or took too much work to be considered worthy of combat. I pretty much just invested in kazuma, since he's in every battle, is the most efficient solo, and useful from the start. Darkness, atm, would take 33+ days of training just to stop being a buff dispenser(actually, it caps at around 26, and only equipment can bring her to positive). Aqua's versatile as damage dealer, healer buffer. Megumin's spells were kind of optional, because you could usually just party stun AoE instead of using explosion. Well, she can be useful once you've invested into explosion fully+given her mana regen. Yunyun and Rin were unlocked late for me, because I had too many things to do in the day time that I didn't really need to quest by the time I got them. Chris was at the end of the playthrough, BUT I understand that this is just the beginning of the game, so I'm looking forward to more uses for All the characters Later. A plus is that you can UNLEARN skills at any time and get the gems back.
[Scenes]- Really fanatasic, anime feel. Visually, it's pretty much an AAA game. I'm not sure why, but it reminds me a little bit of Naruto: Rise of a Ninja. The models are Okay. I liked how the story leads up to sexy situations. There's some fantastic animations for the non-H scenes, but I didn't see any of that in the actual H-scenes. They were rather crude, and not very exciting. Maybe it's because it's so cartoonish. I don't really know how to explain it, it's just missing something. It feels flat. For reference, some anime hentai that I enjoy are Onii Chichi(mostly just the first one) and Accelerando/Stringendo.
[Sound]- I wasn't paying too much attention, but I believe there were nice sound effects for the attacks. No particularly unique music, but the music fits the game quite well.
