First of all, hello to everyone. I’ve been wanting to write an Adult Visual Novel and adapt it into a game for a while now. I think I’m good at writing. Currently, I have a story that I’m planning and working on. I don’t think I’ll have any trouble dividing this story into seasons. The only issue is that I’m not sure how to create a truly high-quality 3D product. I’ve bought some characters and tried to learn a few things, and I realized it would take me a long time to develop the necessary skills for it. That’s why I don’t think I can do this alone. I need people to collaborate with on this project, but since I’m not earning any income from the game at the moment, I won’t be able to pay anyone.

I don’t know, what advice could you give me? If you were in my shoes, what would you do?

English is not my native language, so please don't mind any mistakes I might have made.

Your best friend will be this section of the forum. Start there, browse a bit and get your feet wet by just making a very simple prototype of 'something'. You will find others with the same issues in that section, help and also a way to invite others for support once you have a proper concept ready.

My single real advice would be: learn quickly how to create a storyboard. Doesnt have to be nice or done with a lot of tech, even hand drawings of the ugly type will suffice. A storyboard is your best tool for communicating with others, that have skills in coding etc.

Thank you so much. I will look this section. But I don't think my story can be made into storyboard because what I'm planning is very vast, and each character has significant importance in their own way. However I'll take a look. Maybe I can do it as season.

Do you think the characters' appearance or the game's story is more important to players, or from your perspective?

Dont get storyboard wrong here. It is not a comic strip of your story, but a tool that can visualize the story flow etc. It comes in handy when you need to communicate with people, that have completely different vocabulary for the same thing. People are having an easier time when you can visualize something and as I said: doesnt have to be pretty to work.

A story, however long and convoluted, usually has an overbearing arc, some main actors etc. A coder doesnt need to read all of it to understand what functionality you might need, where to put certain interactive elements and so on, once he/she gets a rough idea what you are aiming for. Thus the concept is important, also for your own sake. It lets you create proper goals for everyone involevd, including yourself in terms when to be ready with which part of the story.

I understand better now, thank you.
