Conclusion? I don't understand the end pointSmh I've noticed that the original PNG files are encoded in 16-bit colorspace. Most of the modern monitors (and basically all modern printers) can only operate 8-bit output colorspace, and even HDR10-capable monitors support only 10-bit output. The only reason to have 16-bit would be RAW camera photos to properly process and reconstruct HDR data, while for hand-drawn paintings there's completely no practical sense for that format. OTOH, re-encoding those to 8-bit colorspace depths allows to shrink down the image sizes 2.5 times on average without any practical loss of quality (see on monitor colorspace limitations above).
They're saying these images are way larger in file size than they need to be. Which they're right, I was literally double checking for a compressed download because the file size on these doesn't make sense per number of pictures. (By I was just double checking, I mean that while I was looking down here for compressed versions I stumbled across your message haha). Conclusion? I don't understand the end point
