Now that voice generation is getting pretty advanced why dont people use them to voiceline their games. Hell you could probably even use it in parady games, like a nier automata trainer.

Elevenlabs is one I've used with some good basic voice cloning.

However, I think we're still a ways away from the level required for actual voice acting. There's no control for tone / emotion / context in how it's spoken. When that comes, things will really take off.

BARK TTS is getting pretty darn close, check this out if any of you want to make your own realistic TTS locally on Windows.

Now TorToiSe is slow, but it's the real damn deal..! Takes hours to train a model, I haven't done it yet but might eventually try.

I was thinking about cloning a couple of voices from fiverr that I liked for an experiment. But I don't know if this is even legal to steal someone's voice. What if I change them a bit in the audio editors?

I'm confused, are you paying for their voice? If so then there should be a clause stating what can be done with it.
But copyright is still murky for this, since this is such new stuff.
You might be able to change the speed and pitch and or use other software altering it enough. But without consent for what you intend to do with it can be libel or defamation if they deem it so, especially if it sounds like exactly like them. An adult game would definitely fit a libel suit... Me personally I wouldn't worry much unless my game was making bank, especially if altered enough to not sound like the author.

I just have a feeling that all these voice actors online profiting off them are going to go on the offensive to anyone who dares clone their bread-and-butter and not pay for their services anymore like hit-and-run case lol...

Yes, I wanted to pay a voice actor for 1 minute of audio and then edit their voice so that it didn't sound like them at all and then clone it with TorToiSe. But I don't think anyone would agree to have his voice cloned, let alone used in a porn game.

Online services are expensive for convenience, you're also slapping on adult voice acting. Besides right now voice actors are not happy about voice cloning soon eating into their monies... If cash is an issue you could always do it in person with a good voice recorder or quiet room and smartphone then some editing. If I really wanted some voice acting, I'd ask around college towns. Someone young who's living off ramen and needs some quick cash. Just record their voices too giving consent on what the purpose is, and if they agree to them for legal reasons.
Or there's the prostitute, escort, homeless person you could ask... Who would most likely laugh taking the cash, and probably go along with it as a last option.

Tell the truth though, if the game has a small base, I wouldn't worry too much about it if edited. Unless you're taking on the mafia music label industry, making AI generated Drake sounding songs on Spotify or Apple music. :KEK:

I looked at some options. The tech is advancing, but it's not good enough yet.

A lot of players have their own internal voices for characters, and to suddenly introduce a voice that would clash with it, while there are so many other shortcomings in tonality, emotion, and dynamic range... might not be as desirable as some might think.

And once those types of features exist, I imagine the work needed to shape each line to be given exactly as desired by the story will be severe. It's not just going to be copy-pasting the script and getting audio files ready to go. It will add a LOT of dev time. Whether the quality will be worth it is something we'll have to wait to find out.

can it simulate tiers of lust and desire in the voices? Like having 10 levels or something? Or combine hesitation within a sexual invitation and things that are more subtle and complex? Or is it just, computer caveman repetitions?
