VN - Ren'Py - Alone with My Teacher [v0.12.1] [Ghelber]

I see from the other reviews that this game was in a bad place before. I understand where they came from, but I learned of this game's existence as I downloaded it just now. After giving it a shot, I was immediately hooked. There's still only about 20 minutes of content here, but it's very, very good.

I have to start with the presentation. When I first started, I thought it was just gonna be like any other VN where the characters all have 2-4 poses they cycle between throughout the entire story until the sexy stuff happens and they get more detailed art and animations. But no, every 5-15 lines, a new cutaway art pops up that better reflects the mood and/or what's happening in the scene. I have to imagine that's why this game has taken so long to solidify itself as a worthwhile experience, because drawing so many scenes has to have taken a considerable amount of time.

Speaking of which, the art is fantastic and cute. What you see in the preview images is what you get, and it's consistent throughout. The writing is good (and all in English now btw) and matches the mood set by the art well. The plot is whatever; not much depth to anything. Guy gets nervous around teacher cuz she's cute, teacher accidentally eats full box of aphrodisiacs, hilarity ensues. There's a tiny bit of content after that, but no more scenes in the demo. Sounds like there's a little more in the Patreon version, and I'm tempted, but I'll see how big the project gets before I commit any money to it. I'll definitely be putting this on my watchlist here, though!

Review as of version 0.0.1. Didn't finish playing since I think the game is not worth playing yet. The story seems pretty good but if you play it now, you will spoiler it all without having all the finished art and other things. This version is almost completely rough sketches of the art, doesn't have any sound design at all and is partially untranslated for some reason. Over all, I think it will probably be worth playing once it's in a better state, for now it really isn't.

Had to stop before I finished. This game should not have been released yet. Despite the previews that have been shared, this game is incredibly full of extremely bad black and white stick figure drawings. They are in nearly every scene and in some cases make up the entirety of scenes. It looks awful. This is still just the concept of a game and not actually realized yet.

Really nice, simple game with great art and solid writing. I really wish there were more games like this one - small scope games that actually see their premise through to completion. Not every game needs to be a sprawling epic with 20 love interests and a complex quest and resource system. Just give me a simple story about a spicy afternoon tryst.

Interesting. A fun premise/dynamic, vanilla romance with a hint of spice and a nice, clean, recognizable art style. Definitely one to watch and support for the future. It's a bit silly, but there's nothing wrong with that.

Definite potential here.
