The variable that stores your choice is searchable and currently not used for anything substantial. Whichever option you pick initially, the variable sets the other scene to become available for viewing at Nadia as an "alternate pathway" and added to the Olivia gallery.

Also, the dev has made comments in the past that they don't really want to have to support the exponential pathing that critical story options would require, particular when you have to render the same scenes but with different people. Which is why there isn't an option, for example, to skip HHS scenes since Kim references and participates in them.
