Am I the only one here who doesn't like deadlines?

I don't like... No, I HATE games with deadlines.

I can understand that it gives a bit of a challenge and forces you to optimize...

But who wants to think while playing h-games?

Mini-games are fine, if they're not frame-perfect. Puzzle, if you don't need 15 years of higher education to solve them...

I think I'm a degenerate for playing h-games, but people who like h-games with deadlines aren't degenerates, they're real psychopaths!

It does depend on the game but yes, they can be annoying (and not just in h-games). I prefer a more sandbox style environment. Especially annoying (for me) are games that forcibly required you to replay because they have events that are necessary for different progression paths at the same time as other events and you can't do both in a single playthrough.

I enjoy trying to get a 'perfect start' in games, getting to endgame far earlier than it first seemed possible. like I keep restarting games and trying to do it better (without abusing bugs or glitches) hundreds of times. it's all about trying to optimize and prioritize things to reach relevant milestones as early as possible. it's a puzzle I want to solve in least possible days.

that's why it frustrates me to no end when a game railroads me and removes the possibilities to strategize and makes me wait for things for no reason. I don't want to be the passenger I wan't to be the driver.

In-game challenges with deadlines - hell no, unless they're turn-based or I already know exactly what to do without external help. Few game experiences are worse than being thrown into an unfamiliar situation with a time limit.

Whole games with deadlines - it's an interesting concept, and I think I've only played Lightning Returns. Since it's a real-time game, that limit had better be liberal, because I don't rush into things and I like to take my time. Generally speaking, bad idea, but if it's turn-based, I'd have a lot more tolerance for it.

I don't particularly dislike them.
What I hate are 2 branches of these games:
1. The one which goes like -
Save the girl in under x amount of turns or Save the girl before x turn or she'll get killed/raped.
2. The one in which sexing a girl takes entire turn or only one can be sexed per turn, example would be daibanchou

hm? I would not see Daibanchou under "deadline", it's more you can't have it all in one playthrough, so you have to choose.
(I never understood how one can achieve to squeeze in completing the Mumin tower)
---------------

What I hate more than "deadline" is "wuzz deadline". Currently playing Amayui Castle Meister, NG, and there you will trigger a deadline of 50 days (game over).
50 days? WTF? If you focus you need 10 days, and there is no good reason to not focus, so what is this? Why come up with a deadline and then shy away from it so much it is ... why have it in the first place?
(There also was a map where you need to reach the far end within 10 turns. Even without intricate tactics, you'll be there in 5 or 6. Why come up with such and then this lameness? What am I playing in "hard" mode for?)

But who wants to think while playing h-games?
me. well, sometimes. (say: Last Sovereign optimising. or Luluu Farea)
sometimes not. (say: Boob Wars 2)

Many adult game developers hate deadlines.

And it frustrates far too many players because they have to wait... ;)

I just don't play VNs. So, sandbox is a frequent tag I'm looking for. I see the word "Day" anywhere in the OP, I'm out. I don't play sandboxes because I want a damn time limit.

Yeah I really don't like it either. If the game gives me... 100 days to do whatever I'm already anxious on day one. I hate that even in normal games. I don't want that pressure when I play, especially not when playing a porn game. Worst yet, when they give you a whole bunch of shit to do, tell you nothing of it, and when you do one it's like "2 days passed". Fuck off with that.

This right here is why I hate and love Final Fantasy 13-3. I like the gameplay, but I don't want that damn deadline bothering me. Every time you're not doing the right thing it feels like you are just wasting time and heading down the bad ending path, forced to replay the whole thing.

Also... I have to add, Lightning is pretty hot and I'm surprised there is not nearly as much porn of her as there is of many other characters, but oh well.

Deadlines isn't something I like when it gives you a game over, however it is ok to do when it exists to give the game some dynamism, for example "you need to prepare because X is gonna happen" it doesn't mean that preparing badly will give you a game over, but that it will make said X to be harder or to have more consequences.
