Let me say this absolutely clear - I LOVE Amity Park! I only just found out about the game last year ... in fact, it will be exactly one year in couple of weeks, it happened right after the Episode 8 Red Spectra got released. I loved the game not because of its drawing or kink or whatever, but because it made me laugh out loud. I needed a good laugh in my life, and AP hit the spot.
At the time I was unfamiliar with Danny Phantom cartoon, since it is way too modern for me (I grew up in the late 80s and early 90s) so it took me some time to realize that it was actually based off the cartoon but none of this took away the fun. I loved the Portal, Minecraft & other references in AP, I even assumed that Ember McLain was a strong reference to Ellen McLain, voice actress for GlaDOS in Portal franchise ... and many other games for that matter.
One of the strongest advantages, assets ... or whatever you want to call them of Amity Park over the other, similar games (adult ones or otherwise) is that it was never meant to be taken seriously. Thing is, most of the other games - especially adult ones always tend to look & sound serious ... and fail miserably! You probably know what I'm talking about, as you can see it just about anywhere you look. Some of those games try to dramatize every single situation in order to make it look more serious, but in the end it just looks plain weird because it is still ONLY & JUST the video game and nothing else.
And this is where Amity Park steps in - I was never under the impression that the game expected me (as the player) to take it seriously, and the entire flow feels kinda silly, goofy but in a good way. Same thing with Maddie ... personally I'm not into incest or similar kinks but playing Amity Park I never felt as if the main character was "me", that Maddie was "Mom" and/or that I'm some beefed up 18-yr old guy living some sort of twisted or pervy fantasy (again, the usual MC stereotype) but rather that I'm watching a silly cartoon for adults, a parody with the good sense of humor. And that is what keeps AP afloat in my opinion, and makes people want to become patreons to support it, in order to keep it going.
I know for the fact that it makes me want to become the patreon, and (assuming the game keeps on moving in right direction) I may just bite the bullet & become one eventually. Therefore, I sincerely hope that the game is here to stay and develop further into either direction ... episodic or otherwise, we shall see what the future holds. That being said, I do have certain doubts, questions & worries after playing through the latest 0.9.6 update but I'm going to save these for some other occasion. The update could have been better, yes but so far (at least) nothing had been dramatically changed or ruined to the point where I would want to back out. IMO, still the best game of its kind.
PS, I want to make it absolutely clear that I'm not rating the current update, drawing style or the characters, but rather the /entire/ game for what it is and for its overall value. And that is 5 out of 5
