This game doesn't respect your time, it actively disrespects it.
The completely nonsensical sandbox with nothing to do in it but grind and pass the time returns with a vengeance. You want to talk to someone and see a cute/sexy scene? Oops only one a day and they're arbitrarily scattered. You wanna grind bullshit points for your ghost powers? Oops, can't do that. Go to your designated plot point and get beaten up. Oh, you think the next fight is also scripted? Nope, you gotta win that one buddy! Try again
Part of the reason people play these "parody" games is having the characters you know react to stuff but everyone is out of character, people barely resemble caricatures of their original selves and while that's partly expected often their traits are overdone to the extreme. The story is just a bunch of common porn tropes strung together anyway so it doesn't matter what they were originally, they're all just generic plot devices so who cares? Might as well look at an album you can come up with the plot on your own.
I was wondering about the inconsistent art quality, turns out in recent updates they're using AI to "help" the same way Steam games "create" and then "enhance" so they can upload their slop to the storefront. Great. Maybe that'll help speed up development but we know it won't. Eventually all these games reach the "rework/remake" phase of development because the dev is too afraid to step forward... this is there now, and they've chosen AI.
Combat? Why does this have combat? Why is it so bad? Why does it expect you to win randomly and then makes you lose anyway? You could spare people the trouble by not having it. Who cares? It doesn't affect the plot in any way anyway, except when it does, and then it doesn't. This just makes the player annoyed and takes all agency, the little they had to begin with, away from them and for what? To give you another number to raise arbitrarily to gate you and pad out time! Fuck else are you gonna do?
This game is 7 years old as of writing this, that's 2017, how many indies have made extremely successful HUGE games with actual gameplay despite their teams being 2 to 5 people total since then? How many are making some now? How many have called it quits after realising they reached too far?
I've seen entire fanbases grow and self-destruct, MMOs show up and die, the face of the internet change permanently several times, and yet this remains. Unfinished, and tricking people with its versioning system for another lacklustre sandbox flag search with a bunch of tropey interactions and shit "combat".
This is cancer, the perpetual work in progress, a prime example of it.
