720p is usually 1280x720 pixels, and 1080p is usually 1920x1080 pixels. Do the math and you get 720p: 921,600 pixels, 1080p: 2,073,600 pixels. If uncompressed a frame in 1080p is 2.25 times the size of a 720p frame.

I can't check atm but is the 1080p video also 60fps? That'd massively increase file size as well.
