There are a couple of games here offer direct paypal payment links (buy me a coffee type).
I've been looking into making a couple of donations including this site, but when looking at the paypal payment page there is no place for a username.
Further investigation shows that paypal send the recipient the details of the payer. I can understand to an extent to verify delivery addresses (even though I might want it delivered to my office....), but where no delivery is needed...I'll stop before the rant gets going.
I've seen that you can set up a business account to show anonymous info. How much do these show?
When I talk about username it would be so those that received would know an identifier, should I choose to use the same UN as here, then from me.
For me this is about control of personal data - if you don't need it, why do you need to be given it?
I know that a Patreon account would probably offer this, but I'd prefer not to do it this way, 1) on principle and 2) it means the dev gets a bigger chunk of the donation.
Sorry, I've only used paypal once and that was in about 1999/2000 to buy a single item. I've never used it for transfer of funds, so any help would be appreciated.

If I'm honest, I've also noticed the trend too, Bright Sun seemed to implement it. The problem is, and many have pointed this out in the many threads looking for specific ways to get around the Patreon purges of taboo content, and that is, Paypal looks into accounts that receive numerous personal donations. They have to, by law, as that is an indicator that something illegal might be going on. Be that Prostitution, Drugs or some other contraband, or some other form of illegal payment. As a result, Paypal will eventually look closer at your account and ask why you're receiving donations. When you tell them you're making a game, they'll ask about the content, and shut you down for using their platform to sell adult content. And unlike Patreon, they'll shut you down for any adult content, as it's against their ToS to use their platform for the sale of Adult Content.

The law actually got stricter more recently, as you may have heard about with the recent Google Drive, and Reddit purges of adult content, specifically that related to individuals who are selling sex over the internet. This cracks down hard on camgirls as well as more specifically anyone using the internet to facilitate solicitation purposes. Camgirls have to work through more proper channels now, essentially making it impossible to be completely independent as one. And anyone who was using the internet for solicitation is looking at even greater scrutiny than before, because the laws have the companies, like google, reddit, and paypal looking into their personal business more and more.

So, while I would love for the censorship to end, or for there to be a way to subvert it like that, the simple fact is it isn't going to end until someone does something at the federal level to stop it.

Thanks for your response @DarthSeduction just to be clear, I'm not creating, I was hoping to donate to a creator, I would like to be anonymous in that, but know I may have to bite the bullet.
Ironically the big law change in europe at the moment is which, although it will be a flop, is supposedly about protecting individuals personal data. Under this law, I could refuse to donate to anyone that gets me personal info unless the have compliant data protection policies in place. Insane and unpolicable, but hey, I run a small business so know how much I had to do because my customers are demanding it.

I get that you're looking to donate to a developer, but considering the fact that such a practice is likely to get them shut down, I'd rather see you caution them than donate to them in such a way. When Paypal catches wind of it they won't just lose their funding method, they'll be banned from paypal for life. If they wanted to set up some other form of secure payment with a more understanding banking institution, they could possibly do that, but until then it is a very risky procedure to do.

As for privacy policy, I have no doubt it's difficult to police, but it gives consumers protections and they should be able to litigate them in court if their rights are violated. I get that they might not know they are being violated, but if nothing is done we'll continue on this path toward an Orwellian surveillance state led by corporate interests. Is it hamfisted and difficult? Yes. But it's absolutely necessary, and should have been the standard from the start. But as with most advances in technology, they happen faster than the moral debate surrounding them can occur.

This is a little unconventional but why not use someone else as cannon fodder? This is an old-time classic. Pay someone to pay the developer for you, request for whatever they can access be delivered to you. They may ask for a small commission but your direct involvement is covered. Just use this method in supporting adult game developers, not by any other means.

There is no such thing as privacy in a world dominated by Corporate Fascists and thugs! I made a donation to Wikileaks through pay-pal and my pay-pal account was shut down within 48 hours of me making that donation! I am not the only person that has happened to! As for Visa well they will pretty much tell the Govt anyway what you are up to if it is something the Corporate Fascist owned Govts doesn't like. It is pretty much the same with other Credit Card/Debit Card issuing companies. Well you need Card to open a pay-pal account in the first place. Unless things have changed???

Sadly the best choice for this being Patreon at the moment.

The UK is just as bad. It is a Global phenomenon I suspect?
@iainmore PM 2022 :)

Thanks for your replies guys, it is a sad situation we find ourselves in and I guessed it would be a closed alley. Just more frustration at the corporate bullies of the 21st century.
I've felt it even more since I've had my own business. B2B I actively seek to get my services from companies local to mine, even if it costs a bit more. My customer's info is for use in my business with them only and will NEVER be sold on and will be deleted/destroyed as soon as I can. I know it's a bit like Canute trying to hold back the tide, but it sits on my conscience better that way.
I also have a new policy dealing with spam...unsubscribe and block if that's the end of it fine, if I get anything else or they don't have an easy unsubscribe option, they get signed up to Pornhub. Shame I don't get paid for that, I'd have made a fortune this week.
