Hi guys,
I'm sorry if what I'm about to ask has been asked before, but I didn't find much.
So, I'd like to learn to create porn games (I'll start very slow) as a hobby.
My question is:
For a complete noob (no 3d editing experience) is Daz3D the best option? What about blender?

Any suggestion you can give me? Anything is well accepted since I really don't know where to start :p

Thanks everyone :D

If you're a complete noob, yes, Daz is the best option. Daz is very entry level. Blender is much more difficult.

Daz does have some pretty good interactive tutorials as well. If you focus on learning it and learning well, you should be able to make a competent game in no time.

Games like are the best options for beginners in my opinion.

If you want to make a visual novel, use or , which have good functionality, don't require powerful hardware and work on multiple platforms.

Also, noob or not, make sure you have good PC specs to render. As rendering a single figure with some clothes and a flat background can take from a few mins to more than an hour (using Iray). The variables are a lot (number of polygons on the figure and clothes is one of them), also depending on how you set the render in DAZ.

Thanks, I was just taking a look a Daz and it seems very cool :D

I think I'll definetly use Ren'Py since I already know some Python.

Yeah, that's my problem at the moment. I have a laptop with no gpu, just an i7 processor.
I think I will just render at a very low resolution (if it is possible) in the learning phase. In a few months I hope to be able to buy a desktop with some good components...

Yea, in my case I have a nice GPU, but it's only 2GB ram, so a lot of stuff I want to try doesn't fit in there and DAZ ends up rendering with CPU, which while it's a i7, it's a 3rd gen one, so very old. That's the things also you have to keep in mind, that if Daz can't fit the WHOLE thing in the GPU ram, it will render everything with CPU, it doesn't do "50-50"

The 3Delight render engine uses in general less processing power and honestly, that's the one you would have to use now, as Iray is available for Nvidia GPUs

Daz is a great software but it's far from true 3d modeling. Daz let's you use 3d assets and build the scene. Software like blender allow you to actually create the 3d assets from scratch. Although both programs have some overlap, ideally you'd build your scenes with daz and use blender for creating or tweaking the assets.

Iray rendering is very slow in Daz unless you have an nvidia gpu. I'd recommend at least a 4gb card. There's some second hand gtx 980s you can pick up for cheap. Even some 1050tis have 4gb memory for under $150.

Well, I guess I'll start with Daz and when I'll be good enough I will try to learn blender (I read is very difficult).
About the GPU memory, how much of it can a 1920x1080 image require to be rendered? I remember I read somwhere that 4gb where enough for 1080p gaming (but I may be wrong). Is it the same thing or could be more vram be best for better quality (like smoother edges)?

From 0.01mb to infinity. It solely depends on what you trying to render.
Without a GPU and on a laptop I cannot recommend you using daz.
I have 16gb ram with 8gb vram (gtx 1070) and I crash almost on a daily basis. (I do push it to the limit)
A normal g3 or g8 figure, with normal outfit and hair, can easily take 1gb+ of vram. Now add multiple characters and props and environment and you prone to a lot of headaches without a decent spec.

Now you CAN ignore it all. Use g2 figures, optimize it to hell with scene optimizer (remove the maps and lower texture to ugliness). But then the question is - is it worth it?

About blender - not worth it. Takes an incredible amount of time to learn. Not a lot of eroge support (have to create all that yourself). If you want to go that route take the game making progress on pause for 6-12 months to learn it.

Use honey select. I do not know much about it - but as far as I know (can be 100% wrong) it's just a game in which you screen save some poses and stuff.

I come from a background in 3dmax and have a love/hate working relationship with blender. Since I started using daz I have not used max or blender, I recently only re installed max on this pc and used it once for something that had nothing to do with daz,
