so apparently the mod didn't like my lack of interest.

Anyway. it sucks for 3d game developper that free models provider is shut down. You really can't find any info or reasons behind it?

Well providing stuff for free usually nets you zero profit. My guess is that the person/people behind that site simply did not want to use their money on it anymore. But unless something else is stated somewhere we will never know.
