Any way to be notified when a specific user comments in a specific thread?

Is there a way to configure F95 to notify me through the built-in notification system when a few specific modders and paywalled-posts providers comment in a few specific game threads?

Additional notes:
  • "Watching" threads doesn't cover my need because many of the game threads I'm interested in are EXTREMELY chatty and the users I'm interested in only comment a few times per year or even rarer. The SnR in my notifications would be abysmal.
  • I've never "followed" any users but I can't imagine it can solve the problem... if it does, please enlighten me, considering I'm not interested in everything these users post/comment across all of F95.
  • Configuring /search/?type=post to look for all comments posted by a certain user is something, but I found no way to complete these missing steps:
    • Could not configure F95 to notify me whenever a search finds new hits
    • Could not configure F95 to limit my search to specific game/mod threads. Only to major chunks of F95, such as "Games" or "Mods" sub-forums via "Search in forums:", which is not of much use as I'm only interested in comments in a few threads and not across thousands of other threads.
    • Note: I was able to save a search so I don't have to manually configure it every time by configuring & running it once and then bookmarking the URL of the results page. You don't have to remove the caching id (.../search/<caching id here>/?t=...), it's autogenerated once it expires.
      • Could not find a way to run the search when I access the saved URL without having to click "Search". It's a small issue but if there's a solution, please mention it.

use quick search inside a thread, not advanced search. frankenstein the code from the url if you want.

huh, surprising. i've seen some posts with old links to cached searches that no longer worked so i assumed they always have a limited lifespan, but testing it again, at least modifying the search terms in the url and giving that an unused old id seems to work for rolling a new id or finding an active id assigned to it.

Obviously, I don't want to take it to the next level. I'm asking about "native" solutions.

Interesting idea but it doesn't work. I tried adding &c[users]=manneychin to the results-URL produced by quick search but when I hit the modified URL the same thing happens as I already described, I'm redirected to https://f95zone.to/search/?type=post , the page where you configure any search. Once I click on "SEARCH" there, the &c[thread]=8012 argument is lost.

It seems the quick search pop-up makes a different POST to the backend which automagically configures a search, runs it and then redirects you to the results-URL. The c[thread] argument seems undocumented and unusable via GUI.

quick search of a thread for posts by redknight00: (you don't need to add user to the url, btw, restricting by user is in the quick search popup)
https://f95zone.to/search/422764704/?t=post&c[thread]=155495&c[users]=redknight00&o=relevance

changed search id to something + used thread id for another thread redknight00 posted in:
https://f95zone.to/search/111/?t=post&c[thread]=221152&c[users]=redknight00&o=relevance

your search:
https://f95zone.to/search/4/?t=post&c[thread]=8012&c[users]=manneychin&o=relevance

relevance search without keywords orders by date so changing it isn't necessary.

i get what you describe if i change search id to 0.

Think for a second. You want a notification for something , that doesnt natively exist on F95 - your specific search result. There is no native solution for what you are asking for, except as I suggested. Have something else check the search result and then get notified is what you need to do.

F95 doesnt know, what you deem 'interesting' or 'relevant' out of that result. You dont want all postings from a user, you dont want to watch threads. What you are basically asking for is the handbook to stalk and that is not a native function.
Edit: You restrict your own profile to shadow your activity, which is where you could pick a part of the data you are looking for. Thus my wording of 'stalking'

P.S. Totally forgot to comment on the follow part:
Simply choose a dev randomly and follow them. Then click on your user name upper right and select news feed. That is where the follows will be shown and their activity aka postings. I simply dont get why you wouldnt just do that yourself, instead of asking what it does. Which is why the stalking comment came up. You limit your own presence but seem awfully interested in other people

I think it's best I just refrain from further talking to you. If you "don't get it" after it's been clearly explained in the 1st post then you should refrain from making insane accusations. There is no stalking here. The function to search a thread's comments by user is in the quick search pop-up, I just missed it. You have a serious problem.

I can't believe I missed being able to type in the user in the quick search field. I never used it so I tuned it out.

Nice. At least I can bookmark URLs that will show what I want in one click. It's not quite like getting notifications but it's good enough. Thank you!
