Are lewd mods for regular games successful?

I'm a dev making my own game, but in the past I thought of making mods for games I love like Age of Mythology, Mount&BLade, Warcraft 3
Do you think one could successfully make some pocket cash on patreon while at it?

I'm not grumpy, I'm just coded that way.

Lewd mods for regular games can be successful, Fallout and The Elder Scroll communities are the proof of that. But outside to those two series, the market is really low, mostly because the possibilities to put lewd are themselves really low.

Let me also point out that there are so many people making exact copies of the mod. In the end, a "lewd mod" is just a texture pack, maybe an animation and a short script if you're feeling fancy, either way it doesn't take much effort. As a result there isn't just one, there are hundreds of them and it really isn't a big desire for people to donate to your patreon to see your work continue.

Yep. And when Bethesda tried to have paid mods on Steam, it was discontinued shortly after due to the shitstorm players raised.

To be fair, it was mostly because Bethesda wanted a part of that money. Imagine, you make a buggy and average looking game, and then you want to get a part of the money spent to buy the mods that will fix the bugs and bring better visuals...
For the other mods, I guess that the community would have accepted it, as long as it wasn't mandatory ; after all you can give few bucks to the modder through NexusMod by example. But for those ones it was an obvious big no even with optional payment.

Just make lewd mods for the Illusion games. I see modders making a decent chunk of change.
