Hey all!

I'm thinking about starting my own first game. I'll be using Ren'Py and I'll use Stable Diffusion for the AI images. I have an idea in my head about a mystery/comedy novel about a guy working in IT.

I'm doubting which art style to choice, either photo realistic or more realistic animated? It would be for the backgrounds, but especially for the characters.

I'm wondering what you think.

. It's even easy for your game to be falsely reported, accusing you of having deepfakes among your assets. It's safer to use a style that doesn't raise any doubts about it being a drawing or a 3d model.

Are you using the base SDXL model? If so, it's aware of many styles of art that you could use if you wanted to pursue the realistic style (to keep it from going uncanny valley). If you're using the Automatic1111 UI the help/hints window gives a pretty comprehensive list of artist styles you can apply.
Also, if you're prepared to do a little post-work (which, honestly, almost always needed anyway), you could use Photoshop or GIMP to apply a filter to your photo-realistic render to give it enough of a different look (I'm thinking an edge filter) that it doesn't catch the ire of the moderators... but that depends on how you write the prompt for your characters.
All part of the fun of determining your VN's style. Good Luck!
