Like the post above, version numbering is arbitrary based on the dev. It does not consider the amount of content or how finished a game is. This is especially true for ongoing titles that are still actively in development.
Even completed games have wildly varying degrees of content that can equal to a game at a v0.1/0.2 etc so it is not a good metric to use (unless from a very well known publisher say Alicesoft or something).
So if you enjoy a game at v0.69 or however they number it, you're also praying that they also don't abandon the project while you wait for the next update. Which can happen because devs are human too, stuff happens.
TLDR Version numbers don't mean squat and is mostly for the dev to keep track of updates.
