Not perfect, but pretty great. At its core this is just another harem sandbox game set in a fantasy world with a variety of monster girls. People are comparing it to old adventure games just because it has a pixel aesthetic which may be comparable, but it is not King's Quest with sex scenes. With that said, there are a few things that set this one apart:
- It's complete. I think there could be a better ending/epilogue for sure but there was only one part where there was a "there is not more content here yet" note... and maybe that should just be removed.
- The pixel art is pretty good, and the animations built on it during scenes is actually very good.
- There are a variety of minigames to pad the playtime of the game, but they are surprisingly refined given that many of them are only played once and then forgotten.
This is pretty much enough to give the game 5 stars in my book, but I wouldn't really consider it an all-timer. Firstly, the plot is a bit bland and the characters are not particularly interesting/original. Secondly, even though the game is complete it still has the feel of a Patreon project that was developed in clear phases that can sorta feel disjoint. At the beginning of the game you have an initial cast of girls you deal with, but eventually you exhaust all their scenes and basically don't interact with them anymore, and instead you're introduced to a stream of new girls and the old ones are more or less forgotten (except insofar as they run stores that you will have to continue using.) The world could've been woven together better, instead of built up through clear content increments over time. But if you're just looking for monster girl fetish content rather than actual character arcs or worldbuilding than this game has you pretty covered. A proper ending would've been useful here, instead it feels like the game ends sorta suddenly and randomly without much fanfare, which I take to be a hint that it was not the developer's original intention but they decided to just wrap things up and move on. (What's the deal with Dakra, btw? She is just never used for anything.)
But considering the disastrous endings that tend to plague similar Patreon projects whose developers build complex worlds and then decide to end the game in an unexpected fashion when they lose interest in the project, this is... not too bad. I hope the developer decides to add some epilogue content at some point though.
Also even though the minigames are pretty good, it seems odd that so much effort went into them. I would've rather seen things just go deeper with the roguelike dungeon experience, like many other games do, rather than have that plus like 20 other minigames that you may or may interact with more than once.
But these are minor nitpicks, for a harem sandbox enthusiast this is probably the best game to get the [Complete] tag in a few months.
