Unity - Bare Backstreets [v0.7.4] [Jasonafex]

Despite what you have against the artist, the game itself, despite it's bugs which is to be expected with a unfinished game. The game has great animations, sounds and okayish platforming. I enjoy it, would recommend to not research the artist or check comments to enjoy this one ^^

This game is just another notch in the "NPCs are more than just a meme" belt. I saw a guy once arguing that this game was amazing, had stellar animations, and that he played it for the gameplay. Idk if it's a mental issue, or just the creator's cult of personality, but it's dumb af. Some things are objectively bad, and this game is one of them.

Controls feel stiff but it's nice you can single hand most of it. Very poorly optimized: massive stutters even on high end gaming computers. Sometimes all it takes to make the game struggle for air is the defeat of a single wasp enemy or a character about to start up dialog. Characters get stuck on terrain and their sprites can get stuck flipped upside down or even at a weird diagonal angle.
All of this could improve as builds go on but even then the only part of this that shows any real potential are the animations and those are so limited right now that it's not worth waiting for the download to finish. Even if everything worked as intended the game elements wouldn't contribute to the enjoyment of the porn or even be fun on their own.

I'm rating the game, not the developer.
1st thing the game is protected by a password (you can still play without it but you are going to miss some stuff).

short\ the game itself is a platforming beat'em game where you can only jump and punch 10 types of enemies which all of them can't do shit when you start punching, but with a twist, you are lagging as fuck.

Long\

Gameplay\ you choose a hero from 2 (one male and female (female needs the password I spoke of earlier)) then the game throw you into random stages where your main goal is to reach the other end of the stage, you find enemies along the way which you can ignore them most of the time.
as for controls you can jump, dash, punch... nothing more, which by itself is severely lacking.
when you want to fight an enemy just keep pressing punch key because ALL of them will die this way.
Low enemy variation duo to most of them are melee (8/10 implemented enemies are melee) who walk to you or stand their place just to be punched.
the worst part of the game at the current build is LAG.
I have a beefy laptop that runs cyberpunk 2077 at maximum ray tracing graphic setting, but OMG this game lags so horrible, I closed the game twice because I thought it was some malware or something happening in the background.
also sometimes you feel that your hero (playable character) is not interacting probably with enemies or objects, you punch the enemy, and the punch should've landed, but he didn't respond and keep walking like something never happens, sometimes its the opposite, he punch you but you don't receive any damage.

sounds and music\ the game have ok music in-game, some voices here and there, but it's not that impressive.

Animation and graphics (not the sexual content)\ one of the most impotent factors in animation is to be constant eye-appealing animation, which is not achieved because the goddam, otherwise it's good.
the environment itself is lacking.

Sexual content\ ammm,, average at best, the game offers you 1-2 animation per enemy (12 in total), some of those animation changes (small changes) based on the chosen hero. (can be gay if you choose male or straight if you choose female).
it also lacks events. and because of the lack of enemy variations, the game is not offering a lot, also you find all of the monsters at 1st stage which means beyond the 1st stage, you won't find anything new.
Due to the nature of the game, where there are enemies everywhere.. why there is no gangbang or threesome?

Plot\ I couldn't find any in-game plots..

conclusion\ the game at the current build is not good, mainly because it wants to deliver an action side scroller focused game, without caring about how to achieve this, for a start the lag problem should be fixed, because the game on average Pc is unplayable, 2nd more optimization should be done, then adding at least a plot, I can't have fun because I'm walking in random stages fighting enemies without a reason, adding more details to the environment is level up.

dear developer, at this date you already have $7,700 income from your patrons, so consider removing your game protection codes which is the reason why the game is laggy as hell and unplayable and start optimization your game, your game concept, or art will be copied sooner or later, but at least make people remember the game.

Gameplay is terrible, same level of quality as those old shitty flash sidescrollers, but even buggier, and it is some how, runs incredibly slowly even with a beefy computer, almost feels as if it's just a Bitcoin miner.

Art is nice tho.

I'm not even able to play this because it crashes every time I start a map. The older versions weren't very stable either, with FPS drops all the time even on low graphics. Personally it's a very meh game, but it's not finished yet so let's hope and improve with future updates.

Pretty cool game. Very buggy though and need a lot of fixes. Dev progress is slow and it is behind a wanna-be paywall.

Animations are very nice and i think the controls are good. The controls and the way the game played used to be very clunky but i think it plays fairly good now. The game does not have a lot of content as it is for now but that will change in the future. Hopefully the devs start releasing content and fixes faster since they are pretty slow. (but hey- i don't know nothin about game development)

Atm the game is very buggy and crashes very often. Hopefully the new dev will stary fixing this pile of spaghetti.

I wanted to try this game to see if it was worth it to support the creator on Patreon.

First thing first, it's barely launched and there's already a paywall. Wow. But let's ignore that.

I have no idea if it is incredible laggy or if the characters move like old Russian tanks. My PC isn't a beast but many other unity games I've found here run without a single problem so whatever it is, it's the game. It's buggy as well: inputs do not register, platforms are there, then not there, then there again and hitboxes? What are those?

There is a problem with the sound, there's a problem with the keybinding, there are probably other problems that I did not bother to look for.

The art isn't bad but seriously? It's nothing exceptional and while I didn't browse the entire furry section on this here website, I can tell you you'll find better.

Reading the comments, it seems like the creator is an asshole. I'm not surprised that this game is shit, then.

Ok so before I start the bad, here's some good.

THE GOOD: They fixed a lot of the game breaking bugs and added some cool new stuff so the're going in the right direction

THE BAD: But also a step back, You can only play as Vergence (the guy) and Genesis (the girl) is now locked behind a Patreon support wall, which would be completely fine if the other 2 unreleased characters were behind it. As I am straight, removing the female character to play as, with most to all enemies being male its pretty off putting now but their is a work around for it so all is not lost, still not a good move if you want to get both sides of the spectrum to play the game. Lastly still not enough content to be that fun. It's really a 2.5/5 stars for me.

Handles like a 13-year old's first attempt at a flash game, despite looking flashy with sprites.
Sound equalization is an absolute joke, it switches from "Destroy your brand new headphones" to "Muted" with no in-between, and sliding the bar down just keeps it in the former range the whole way. Even with EVERYTHING on the lowest possible setting starting a map is accompanied by an eardrum shattering gunshot.

And the cherry on top of the cake: You have to log-in, either with Patreon or SubscribeStar, and automatically if you try with Patreon it'll try to auto-sub to Jasonafex. So yeah this is flashy garbage.

WTF is going on with the development of this game, the second coder cleaned up so much shit from the game when version 0.4 launched, now it got so much worse with nothing to justify it, there was no significant amount of content added to the game to justify such shit performance, the gameplay isn't that much different either, my guess is the anti piracy stuff they are shoving into the game that causing all of this.

Well well, i tryed it and cant say its good at all, it lacks a lot of things but since its a "0.X" version its understandable, why i dislike it that much then? Its not really enjoyable at gameplaying right now, clunky fighting, the character hits pretty slow and feels like its not animated at all. Not intuitive at all, first playthrough i see a lot of keys and chests, i dont know if they can be opened or not yet since i tryed all the keys, when you get raped you end up in a minigame that its not clear at all about what you have to do to get away from the situation, the only good thing i can point about its the sex animations, they feel quite decent (but was able to find only one cuz the bees dont do anything), better than a lot of games i tryed.

Still a looooong way to go.

It was buggy during it's first ever release, it's still buggy now. Barely any progress has come of this while there's other games out there finishing up their storylines and chucking out updates like a man chucks out specimen during an orgy.

What was even the point of this game? It's literally just crappy platforming, a little bit of meh porn, and then the next level. It's as Frank Drebin once said: It's like having sex. It's a painstaking and arduous task that seems to go on and on forever, and just when you think things are going your way, nothing happens.

Let's ignore how horrible the developer is as a person and focus on the game itself.

It's as cancerous as the developer who made it.

For a furry porn game, the art is actually not too bad, especially looking at alternatives. That being said, it plays worse than almost anything else due to the fact that 90% of the game is comprised of bugs. I've played the public versions and Patreon versions, and they're equally plagued with game breaking bugs.

You frequently are unable to open chests, even when you have the keys. This pales in comparison to how often you'll get stuck mid air after a jump. While using the female character, this happens almost every single time you jump. This makes the game genuinely unplayable, especially if you're not wanting gay content.

Bugs aside, there are almost no animations within the game, the combat is minimal and bland, and above all else...there's nothing to do! You can hit enemies, get fucked, and if you're insanely lucky...open a chest. They have mimics in the game now (Chests that will grab you and activate a porn scene), but you can't even access them since the chests don't work!

All in all, horrible game made by a horrible developer. Pretty fitting, honestly.

Nice sprites for the sex animations though kind of repetitive and not alot to do other than bait the monsters to fluff your butt. Needs more monster types and maybe more than one monster at the same time.

having know Jason on a somewhat person to person level for awhile and being in touch with other mutuals of his, i can tell you now this game will be either

A. Underwhelming
or
B. abandoned, yet again

as the game is now? its nonsense, lacking, the platforming is weird, levels look like something made in a Cartoon Network flash game, animation is fine, but the variation is lacking. a lot you see in the banner is not there or just next to impossible to find.

I am aware that this game isint even 0.5 yet, but there are plenty of other games with better and more content, or were actually finished in a timely manner.

When your patreon gets 3000$ per month and you can't even make GRAVITY work on the second level of your PLATFORMER, you should consider not making video games for a living.

oh and this game has been "playable" since AUGUST 2019 ... needless to say this is a waste of time and money.

Just awful. Mechanically broken, "in development" for years and years, overly simple and tedious gameplay. Nothing good here. If the dev had any integrity he would trash the project. Of course, idiots keep throwing money at no-talent hack develops because "muh furry" so of course he's going to keep sponging off of them. It's seriously just trash, save your hard drive space for something better.

This is a high quality furry porn game and although the game is missing some important game play aspects it is understandable because its not complete yet and I hope the creates can improve this amazingly high quality game.

Original was way better. Dont know how you can go away from a project just to revive it with something this shit. I would love for them to scrap this and just go with adding more levels to the original art-style, which was brilliant.
