Am I the only one that can't stand bad looking renders and badly designed and looking characters. I do value the story and narrative quality but if the game has bad renders and unattractive characters I lose a lot of enjoyment. For example I tried Sisterly lust but couldn't like the game due to the render quality and characters design. While game like become a rock star got me intrigued very quickly. I mean what's the point of not having the best possible looking characters in a porn game, why try to be too realistic, since it's a game. Say if the characters looked as good as resident evil remake games girls then it would be so good.

You probley not the only one and good looking characters help but for me at least it is context that matter.
As long i feel like i am dominate the girl.
Threating her like the property she is.
I can cum.

Sure i much rather have a pretty looking elf girl then a text discribing her but i enjoy the power.
The sex itself is meanless without the power.

But them looking realistic is not the problem. The characters in the Resident Evil remakes look way more realistic than the ones you usually see in Daz games. The problem is the facial expressions and body language, it just give off too much of an unsettling vibe. Like an alien wearing human skin, trying to blend in...

It's a combination of both, I think. But I can more easily accept weird facial expressions or stiff poses than weird looking characters with exaggerated body proportions and/or ugly faces. But what is attractive and/or realistic is down to taste of course. I cannot for the life of me get the appeal behind characters with massive breasts and wasp waists, or characters that have huge, thick lips - but that is just me of course. Since they are so common in VNs many probably love those caricatures. It's maybe a bit more easily acceptable when the art is stylized (2D drawing, to a degree Honey Select maybe), but DAZ models become monstrous to me when devs decide to push certain sliders up to 11.

Even a good story is sometimes not enough then. I tried out "Sexbot"... but the extremely ugly characters made me stop pretty early.

Nah, not just you. Masively over- or undersized body parts are a huge turn off for me.
When it comes to beauty and sex-appeal size is nothing and proportions are everything as far as I'm concerned.

Doesn't help those fucked up proportions are just bluntly juxtaposed with realistic surface materials and a perfectly 'normal' looking game world in 99.9% of cases here. Looks terrible and can send me running for the hills in extreme cases.

I'm much more relaxed when it comes to facial expresssions, though. To get those completely right is really, really hard, as they're entirely made up of subtleties which, in turn, are interpreted on a mostly unconcious level by our minds. Needs training to actively look for and replicate the right clues.
And when it comes to the emotions of the characters I rather rely on the (hopefully good) writing anyway...

Tastes differ. For you she was the most beautiful creature to ever have graced a visual novel, Untitled.png but for me, she was mid.

experiment: find the game with the ugliest assface character you can, then take a look at the comments. there will 100% be people who think the hideous troll looks hot. I guarantee it. same thing on porn sites.

yes there will also be lot of people complaining about the ogre, but you'll find people hating any 'beautiful' character just as well. people like different looks.

Even 200 million dollar movies have trouble with that, the most amazing looking CGI characters immediately feel a bit off as soon as they open their mouth or move their facial muscles. Micro expression are very difficult to get 100% right and humans are perfect at reading faces, we detect when something is wrong immediately. But as you say, it's much easier to ignore or accept that, even more so in a still image, but when the character looks like something out of a nightmare you do indeed go running for the hills at times.

Your comment assumes a "one-size-fits-all" approach to beauty. That's not the way things are at all. I thought the girls in Sisterly Lust were very attractive and I enjoyed the game. It's a very popular game so there are a lot of other people who agreed.

You are correct in suggesting that people generally aren't going to play games if they think the girls are ugly, that's sort of a no-brainer. But everybody has a different opinion about which girls are ugly and which are attractive.

But then you suggest that every game should have "the best possible looking characters." This is bad advice that many devs follow and leads to many clone-looking, boring women. Sometimes an intriguing look isn't about being the best-looking. For example, in "The Guardian," there's a sexually aggressive, goth-style character named Lillith. She's one of the more popular characters on this site, but I wouldn't look at her and say that just based on the model she's one of the "best possible looking characters." It's her unique beauty combined with her style and personality that players love.

Furthermore, you seem to suggest that devs can just automatically create beautiful characters. Creating custom characters in Daz3d is a lot of work and getting the morphs and sliders to create an incredibly beautiful character is much easier said than done.

Finally, I would much rather play a game with mediocre girls and a great story than a boring, cookie-cutter story with stunning renders. I can't last more than ten minutes with a boring story. I could give you dozens of examples of beautifully rendered games that suck.

Yup, absolutely agree. Had such an experience just this week.

First tried to play a game with gorgeous renders. Bt then it turned out right the very first scene was just a collection of every dumb porn game trope imaginable, from 'accidently walking in on the masturbating MC' right up to the obligatory 'Oh my god, it's so big!!!' speech, and I was out immideately.

Then I started playing the Defence of Lydia Collier. Very basic renders, lots of very ugly environments, a few characters that look just plain weird in half of the scenes...
And still I found myself two hours into the game before I had even realized what happened. Simply because both the story and the charactes are intriguing and decently well written.
