Does anyone else think the conversation about the risk of stem cell donation is overblown?
Stem cells are usually harvested through blood donation or by collecting bone marrow from suitable donors. This isn't that invasive and only temporarily lowers the immune system of the donor. They might be sore for a few weeks in the tapped spot as well (most likely the hip).
I'm suspecting that the doctors aren't averse to the donation due to significant health concerns, but maybe about the siblings finding out they're not suitable donors.
