Is this safe for normal use or would I get banned without self-hosting?

even though if the mod works would be too risky to use the mod, you can get steam account banned, not worth taking that risk. one of the rules for steam clearly states no manipulation of game or game data no exceptions.

I've never had a complaint of someone being banned for it, but please understand ANY game you mod can/will break T&C and you may be penalised use at youre own discretion.
