Dev Diary #15

“ Hey everyone,
As promised, I wanted to give you all an update before I head out on a work trip.
I've been pushing hard to see how much I could accomplish before leaving, and while I've made significant progress, I haven't quite gotten everything over the finish line. If you've been following the tracker, you'll know there was still a fair amount of work to be done - not just on the CG front, but also in writing, coding, and misc things like gallery. 2 key scenes still need a fair amount of work for me to be happy.
For reference, everything that happens after the outfit room scene has been massively affected. It's essentially writing a new chapter while preserving key story elements, but making them flow better and feel more cohesive with the dual-path system. The result is better, but it is taking time.
As a gesture of goodwill - and do note this will be the first week I'm not putting in any hours on the project - I've decided to pause Patreon subscriptions until the release is ready. I truly appreciate your support and it's my way of acknowledging your continued patience and support during uncertain deadlines and unpredictable development.
While the art has been a significant focus over the past few months I've also been making important changes to the game's flow, the two-path system, and how the later sections develop. These elements are equally, if not more, important than the art updates, and they take time to get right.
I started this project because I wanted to create something I would enjoy playing and thought was good. That's still the main goal. Yes, it's taking longer than expected, and believe me, I feel the pressure. But rushing just doesn't make sense to me.
Thank you so much for your continued support and understanding. I can't wait to finally release it and get some much-needed feedback.”

Two and a half weeks ago it was 3/6 key scenes, now it's 4/6. Don't see it coming before christmas.
And also, I think it's the first time I've the new art, and I prefered the old ones. :(
This looks more like a generic hentai game, I think the previous style with the thicker outline and smoother shading was better...

The dev post is obvious but at least, good thing he's pausing bills. It's late but still a respectable choice.
We'll not see an update this year obv.
That's the first time there is a concrete action towards the community and not one-sided so it's appreciable.

earlier this week he was aiming for release tomorrow (the 14th), now he's talking about 2 whole new scenes that need work? and patreon is paused? yea, this update isn't coming until christmas at the absolute earliest

i'm glad he paused patreon, it's the right thing to do, but it's something he should've done months ago

it is simple, when you run out of excuse for lying, you need to pause the patroen lol, guess what? when he back from holiday there will be other work is difficult to finish and something he can't do on time lol.
Here in Brazil we always joke that we stop for christmas and only return to work after carnival (march/april). What if he did just that? Hahaha

Honestly lost all interest in this project thanks to the remaster. The new art is just objectively worse and generic. Call me a fool but when I first played, it took me a while to realize it was AI, it had a more unique style to it. I didn’t read into at the time, saw it, downloaded it and a while after realized it was AI. So I’m either dumb, or maybe it speaks to how good the old style was. This new shit looks like the ads that are on this very website. Such a shame.

So I'm going to simp for Tori for a minute here.

Yes, Tori has done a very bad job at communicating timelines to his community. He is absolutely guilty of that. And he literally just did it again by getting peoples hopes up the remaster may be out today and again didn't hit that 'goal'. He does deserve criticism for this. And I think he acknowledges this and that's why he paused Patreon, which he didn't have to do.

At the end of the day, Tori didn't force anyone to sub or keep their subs active. People did that on their own to support him.

If people choose to continue to support a project they believe in, even though the author hasn't been good with timeline communication, or update frequency, that is for them to decide.

We're all here because we love the game and want the update asap, but Tori has been focusing on quality and re-imagining the game with updated art and a splitting path system; and it looks awesome from what he's posted.

Did the majority, or at least a lot of players ask for this? I don't think so and I doubt it. But at the end of the day, Tori is making the game he wants to make, and I'm so excited for once it's finally released.

I encourage people to sub back to Tori once he releases the update for a time you deem reasonable, if it's only one month, that's fine.

I know one thing for sure, is that almost all of the main complainers on here are playing this game for free. Tori doesn't owe you guys shit.

He's also been offering full refunds for ages, IIRC. Regardless of what people might think of the communication, new art direction or 'remastering' stuff nobody is actually out of pocket.

But the criticism part (you're a bit soft on that) is also the reason we take the game for free now so I don't need to give someone 10k to make a statement about it.
This is the part where you actually decide to support/buy something or not. Still I'll agree that the game had a great start for an AI game but we still need to see something in the real world now to confirm it and all what happened the past months don't help building a virtuous circle of trust and reliability. (at all).

Hope it changes and today he took a good first step, even though we know at the same time that the first discord post where he said he would do his best to release it on the 14th wasn't true at all (again).

I agree with you that we'll have to wait and see once the update is out to judge if the wait was worth it. However, I am VERY optimistic. If you followed this game from the beginning there has quite literally never been a single time where Tori underdelivered in terms of the actual game. You can make complaints about communication or how he handles the financial stuff. But there has never been a time where Tori released an update and I was disappointed with the quality, size, story, etc.
