There was this game I watched where you go in a cave and find this journal with details on the different creatures there, but the important parts about them are missing, you have a little base where you can pass time and some other stuff, you can see your breeding progress on the bed, it had this overview map and you could go back to the school or in the caves to explore other parts, first one in the caves was you notice maggots swimming around in the water and you slip and fall in. It was text-based so you had no control except choosing where to go and interacting with a few items in the little shack you find. I remember the videos were titled something "chapter". Think it was 3D but not sure.
