VN - Ren'Py - Bright Lord [Phase2 Ep10] [KissKiss Studio]

A 5/5 from a guy who likes Harem, decent to good story and some drama (without BS). I wanted to give it a 4/5 because of the beginning but after playing S2 its fair to say that this game is above "good".

I will be honest, I didnt thought I would like this game but the more I played the more I liked it.
So if you play the first part of S1, and you dont know if you shall continue or not -> PLAY IT!
Trust me, if you also a guy who is looking for a good harem WITH some drama as a basis, this will be a good suggestion.

The beginning of S1 is a bit rushed. Be it from the scenery or sex scenes. But if you play further like Ep4-6 you see it gets a lot of improvement.
S2 is pretty good compared what the game was back then in 2020.

A warning tho:
Its Harem yes and there is no BS fuckery like "They are not a couple yet", "MC didnt feel cucked tho" or your typical excuses you hear from the other side. BUT there is Drama. (Good Drama in my eyes).

Based on completing Phase 1 and starting Phase 2...

Highlights:
- Very nice renders
- A few animations
- It seems obvious which choice to make for the fap content and unlock gallery images.

Less than Positive points:
- All women are big tits and firm bodies...no variety, except Emily is a little less busty than every other model
- Another mother-figure/MILF that looks like she's 24 instead of 37-45. She might as well be an older sister instead of a mother.
- My biggest issue is that too many scenes are very dark, even with the brightness on my laptop turned up to max it was difficult to see what was happening. Phase 2 is even worse with the dark scenes. I get there are shadows, but every scene is difficult to see.
- Deciding to "unleash your rage" on mom's Boss or let him off easy makes no difference to the story...so the decisions really don't matter.

Worth trying though it would be nice if what appears to be major choices did make a difference and the lighting on the scenes was improved.

I'm really thankful for having tried this one out. The game ticks all the right boxes: top notch renders, great animations, that are only improving with each release, and quite the gripping and exciting story.

The characters have interesting personalities. If you're looking for a nice horror game, very well made, with great renders and animations, this is your game.

Dev, keep up the great work!

Graphics are great, premise and plot is great, models are great, but dev REALLY screwed up progression. At the very start you get fucking, fingering, nude bodies - all of it. What's left? Too much reward from the start, no buildup...

v0.6c i'm not much of a reviewer, and my english is rusty, but i see potential in this game and i'd like to add my constructive aspects.

Good points:
- Good renders.
- Beautiful girls, very nice models, maybe the only problem it's a typical one with these games, but the mother's model looks like any other young character.
- Nice animations, they are not great but they're clearly better than average.

Bad points:
- Remember that it's a game to fap, at first it goes well with the tease, but it seems that never moves on from that point, or it takes too much time.
- The story. It starts good, nice personalities for each character, good atmosphere, interested of what's gonna happen, but later on i start to wondering what's the mayor difference between choosing corruption or not, "Bright Lord" often do what he wants, no matter the option i choose.
- Chloe. Damn what a pain in the ass she becomes after some time playing. It seems like she's the MC by the way every other character in the game just forgive her for everything she does.

I hope this game gets better with time.

Good:

• Models for the MC's counterparts are all gorgeous. Emily is cute in a very endearing/innocent way. Nicely done there. Landlady looks quite similar to Emily, but with bigger tits. Chloe is stunning in every way. She's definitely my favorite.
• Appreciate that there's animations. Keep them coming! The very first one really is stellar with the titties bouncing and whatnot. Some are a bit more...see-saw? Not sure how else to explain them, but it's obvious when a more fluid result is there which ones were kinda phoned-in.
• MC's relationship with Emily is a believable one with a good dynamic. I like their inside joke/teasing.

Neutral:

• Models are sexy, their faces a bit generic/Barbie-ish to me.
• The "landlady" character model could stand some aging to distinguish her from her fully-grown "tenants".

Bad:

• Why are "hehe" and "haha" inserted so frequently and randomly when there's nothing humorous going on? Expanding on that a bit: I find myself a bit confused overall about the inconsistency with the grammar and punctuation. Sometimes characters' thoughts and words are laid out colloquially, succinctly, etc. Sometimes there's a comma after damn near every other word. Questions are sometimes phrased as statements.
• In the scene w/ MC and Emily going for a hike and they get lost, are we to believe they set out first thing in the morning, and after a few hours it was dusk? Or that they were indeed out for a full day with no food or water?
• I'm just going to be blunt here: Bright Lord (the character) is written terribly. To the extent that every time their dialog is on the screen I consider exiting the game, but just blow past it because it's so...unrefined and juvenile. "...and shit". There's nothing whatsoever convincing or intriguing about his character or backstory. The justification and brief context he provides to the MC as to who he is and what he's motivated by is so impossibly lazily written, but has so much potential. Even psychodelusional's half-assed evil character in Dark Neighborhood was better written than this guy. His dialog (and others') also isn't consistent; usually blue when it's MC + Bright Lord, but there are exceptions.
• A lot of the dialog is juvenile, actually. People say a lot of VNs have that quality about them as if written by a 14-year-old, and this definitely has that. It's as if the presumed maturity of the visuals is mismatched by cheesy ass lines like "My King" and "your sceptor". Let's keep it just this side of humorous when they be fuckin'.
• Why is the MC sharing an undecorated room with his sister, and both beds are child beds?

Overall, I just can't recommend this one. The 2 stars are because the models are excellent and the renders are good. The story leaves a lot to be desired, though.

I honestly don't have any complaints about this game! not even one.

The story is really really interesting. and you can't guess what turns it'll take.
The models are nice.
the characters are relatable and realistic.
the dialogues and reactions are logical and realistic. that's something you rarely see in these VNs.
there's a great mix of diversity in the sex scenes and sexual acts. especially forced sex and hypnotic sex.

I'm really invested in the story and want to see what happens next.

Ok, sorry if there is any grammar error in my review, english is not my mother language. Bright Lord does everything a good adult VN has to do, it has good models, good story + it drives with very good writting, the major difference between Bright Lord and others games is that the sex scenes aren't the best thing in the game, the story on the hand, it is the best thing and I wasn't expecting that from a porn game! can't wait for another update, it's just too good.

First things first, I really NEVER do any reviews but i really want to push this game.

Modeling: 9/10 (Nice looking models, love it)
Rendering 8/10 (Most of the renders are very good or perfect)
Sound 11/10 (Epic sounds! You'll see what i mean )
Music 10/10 ( Music fits the situations very well)

Story (11/10):
It's by far the most interesting Story i've ever played!
It could even be made as a movie / tv-show
(without the sex scenes) and it would STILL be good.

Overall a real Masterpiece and i enjoy and read every single scene (that's very rare for me )

I bloody love this VN. There are only a few titles on here where i get genuine excitement when they appear in the updated list, this is definitely one of them.

There isn't a single criticism I can place on it, the story is unique (from what I have played on here) and incredibly gripping, the characters are beautifully rendered, the whole playing experience it is visually impressive, its also a game that can stand on its own and doesn't need constant sex scenes to keep me interested. Don't of course get me wrong, I love them (a lot) but it says a lot about a story when I don't miss them when they are not there all the time.

@ the dev, thank you for your hard work in creating this, your vision is turning out the be a spectacular ride and i cannot wait to see how the story pans out.

Great job

This is a good game. The story is different and cativating and the girls gorgeous. The bathroom peeking is used so much on the first day that I got the feeling that this was a parody but since there was no peeking during shoping I have my doubts.
The bad thing for me is that the MC is forced to have relations without the player consent but since that is, so far, the entire premisse of the story, I won't base much of my rating on that. I won't play it though.

I like the game very, very much. The story is atmospheric and suspenseful. and whilst the mc is okay, the girls/women are all exquisitely crafted, especially the mother who is not only hypnotically enchanting but together with her fiery, tormented older daughter represent, in my opinion, two of the most heart-stoppingly gorgeous women of any I have seen grace these frequently exceptional VNs.

The rendering is lovingly excellent with clearly painstaking attention to shadow and light which really does intensify the edgy atmosphere of menace which lurks in every shadow and haunts every moment of this tale.

It will be intriguing to see just how tautly our emotions will be stretched and what chills this imaginative creator will send down our spines before we hopefully reach, once again, the daylight at the end of what promises to be a disturbing, yet at the same time deliciously sensual, journey.

The story line is unique and quite gripping. The rendering is top notch and the personalities are fleshed out quite nicely. Playing it leaves you wanting more. Other than some minor typos (most likely due to English being a second language) it is flawless so far. Don't worry, it is well written, that's why I said minor.

I can't wait to be able to play this game from start to finish, although I'm sure that will be quite a ways from now. Still, I will play each installment eagerly and look forward to seeing where this game goes. Bright Lord has a bright future as does the developer.

All that being said, wow I have never seen a game with the such an aversion to penetration.
I mean maybe I have, but not one with straight up demonic mind control.
Kind of makes sense the MC doesn't want to immediately bang his family, but the bright lord seems to almost honor that for some reason?
There are several scenes where the girl literally begs to be penetrated, and it just doesn't happen for some reason or another.

Maybe the Bright lord isn't actually what it seems?
Then again, if the point of the game is to NOT penetrate the three main girls, I'm not sure how well that goes.

Still there aren't many games that check off all these tags and does a decent job. That's why 4 stars. Hoping with a few updates it will be a 5. I am still interested in where it goes.

The game has a point system that doesn't matter because the enity that takes you over forces you to do his bidding to the people closest to you . Why have a point system when its not needed, you still get to have your way with them lol.

The renders are good and the animations are decent but the story isn't very good., it seems to put you on rails with out you giving your decisions towards the progression to the story.

Good Points
+ Renders and art style look quite good.
+ We have some hot-looking female characters that are for sure.
+ While character stories and their development feels darn cliche the parts about Bright Lord, his background story, and Volan's feel well-written and interesting.

Bad Points

-They became better with phase 2 but until that point, all female characters were acting rude, bitchy, and odd: they were not likable at all. And while they do change with phase 2 it's not going to change how nonsense and annoying they were and caused all that cringy scenes. Except for Emily... She literally stands there as the only female character you can like from phase 1 to phase 2... She is a good girl for sure but her existence is not good enough to carry the whole female part of the game. I just wish she had better tits than her current ones, currently, her tits look nothing special and they are nothing more than meh while other girls' tits look fantastic.
+ Things became better and characters started treating MC better but the whole phase 1 and especially the last parts of phase 1 were terrible...
- Character developments are pretty much cliche well known same old story... We have MC who leaves the house for school. We have bitch older sister who is the best friend of MC before he leaves, now she thinks he is selfish, hates him, hates the whole family, insults them constantly, etc... Little shy sister who likes MC secretly... And hot milf mother who lost his husband (MC's father.) The same old story you can find in literally any 10 adult games you look at. Generally, I don't hate this formula but especially bitchy older sister part is so annoying... You didn't need to make the same formula, and you could have not added bitch older sister and you could make her nice... But Nah... You gotta make the same annoying formula and even make it worst with every new update...
- Even after Chloe did all those things, constantly acted like a bitch to the whole family, treat them like shit, and left home leaving all her family behind making her mom worried they still care about her, her mother wants her back and our MC calls her and tell her ''You don't deserve the way we treat you. Please I just want to talk with you.'' etc... Seriously DEV? She doesn't deserve the way they treat her? Wow... Amazing...
- With V0.6 our family learned about Bright Lord's existence and... Our so-called mother told us ''freak'' acted like everything is our fault, said we ruined their life, etc, seriously? Is this the real way a mother treats her son? If the story was making any sense then she should have said ''What's happening my son... Is he fine?!'' or something like that? But instead, she treated her son like a freak even though he resisted doing those things. Even he desperately tried to protect you and leave the house away from you? A real mother should have worried about her son, shouldn't tell him ''freak'' and should have to feel sorry for him... I really can't understand the unlogical story and characters of this game... It's just... Doesn't makes any sense at all...
- MC's character development feels annoying... Today MC is just a pushover used by Bright Lord and we don't have any control over this, you can resist but resisting gonna end with losing some adult content and you still gonna do the same things to your family... It doesn't make any difference or gives you some control over your body/mind. And with V0.6 we learned MC was really selfish back then, we didn't stand up for his promises and leave his family alone when his dad died years ago for unlogical reasons... So what's our DEV purpose? Does he want us not like any character in this game? Why do I need to play selfish and pushover MC? I don't know what DEV thinks about MC's character development, maybe he has some future plans about it but for now, it's messed up and I don't think changing him well not gonna change people suffering until that point...
- Even if you are on a fully love path you are still forced to rape MC's ''landlady'' in Phase 2, at least DEV should have added the same scene with different dialogues and a few fewer renders (The ones you force her, etc) for second choice people who in love path or want direct content with her instead of having sex with her alter ego...
- Sex scenes need to improve. There are some improvements we got with phase 2 but honestly, I was hoping for more improvements. They are still not that good, they are more like average. While their quality looks pretty good, the animation part still lacks longer loops, better physics, and more angles/positions. And characters showing robotic expressions in sex scenes need to change as well.
- The content we got with updates is not good enough, DEV needs to start lowering his update times or add more content with each update.
- Phrase 1 had a feature you can name relationships with characters, phrase 2 doesn't have that. It's a pretty bad downgrade to add because things make zero sense without it...
- Forced Liza's girlfriend thing was unnesecary, weird and annoying... Honestly, I do believe she looks fantastic and is probably the hottest girl in the whole game but she is dumb AF and she is cringe... I wish she had a better character or character development.
- While all Volen's looks darn cool with that all red-colors etc Bright Lord looks just creepy... I wish he was looking better like other Volen's, I can see DEV have a talent for designing them, it could be cool if he used the same talent for Bright Lord too. I know it's tied to his background story and things that happened to him, but still it feels bad while you watch all cool-looking Volen's and see MC's so-called most powerful Volen looking like an ugly ghoul.


For The End
This is not a bad game, quite opposite even with all that cliche parts it's enjoyable but its have some bad points and instead of fixing them our DEV just keeps creating more bad points and continuing old ones... I was waiting game became closer to its own great potential with phase 2 but looks like while some things became better he added new bad points...

The game has promise and is definitely one that I will keep tabs on. Personally horror is the hardest genre for me to partake in but the cocktail of horror and exotica is hard to resist.

For the sake of avoiding spoilers, I won't reveal how the author scares you but you have a faint heart I would not recommend playing at night. I nearly leaped out my bed haha.

Very high quality renders, amazing art with very hot girls and good animations. Animations improve as the game progresses, so I believe the dev is getting better at making them. This game shows real promise and it already has a good amount of content considering how long it's been in development. I'm looking forward for further releases!

But the pacing is too fast for me and there is very little character development. Whilst there are choices, this feels like only small step away from just being a straight VN.

The lack of player agency is really where this falls down, I just don't feel engaged in what the MC is doing or the choices he is making, It also doesn't feel like the choices the player makes actually does anything.
