Collection - Ren'Py - Abandoned - Broken Heart Bordello [Ch. 1-7] [Smersh & Akabur]

I've now played all 7 chapters of this (because Akabur), and ... it's not bad. But it's not good either. Here's a rundown.

Chapters 1-3 are amateurish, but no worse than average for a first-time dev. The story is cliche and tedious, and there's a lot of clicking even through the story is entirely linear. The art by Akabur is terrific, but there's not very much of it.

In chapters 4-5, the writing gets a bit more competent. BUT - there's very little sex, and very little new art. Here's how bad it gets - Ch 5 is basically a loooong complicated scheme to have a brothel sex party, and when you finally reach the end, the party happens offscreen. One suspects there was supposed to be more art but it fell through.

Chapters 6-7 get gradually better. The story gets less tedious, there are non-linear sections, and there's somewhat more art. Also somebody reminded the author that it's a sex game. But the new CGs aren't by Akabur, and while they're not awful the change in styles is off-putting.

Overall I wouldn't recommend it unless you're pretty bored. If you want to see Akabur's art though, jump in at Ch 6 or 7 - almost everything from earlier chapters gets reused, so you'll see most of what there is to see.

This really had the potential to be a damn good game, but it's very evident that the effort put into creating enough good quality art is almost non existent. There are some good scenes but they are so few and far between that they don't carry the story line at all. The anticipation of finally getting to fuck Bet after three chapters of game play was met with only one image. One damn image. What a complete let down. I doubt I will continue with chapter 4. There are many other games I can spend my time on.

There are too many sex scenes without CGs. The lack of any music and sound effects makes the experience more boring and depressing and less charming than it could be, the same for the lack of color.

The fact that the game is divided into separate executables that need to be downloaded by parts is annoying.

The author also needs to find themselves a better proofreader and editor, the grammar mistakes that slip through detract from inmersión into the story. Seriously, "Go to THE Diastra's ship", for fuck's sake...

Talking about the story, the very beginning was extremely edgy and cringe-worthy, not to mention that the drawings were ugly.

Which brings us to another to the next point, the art.
The very little there is of it is extremely good, as it is expected from Akabur, his work with Chizza in particular is a favorite of mine among all the designs I've seen of him, I consider her the sole saving grace of this game.

But it seems like either Akabur was lazy or the author couldn't pay him enough to draw more, I dunno. The point is that in the first three chapters there were a lot of characters without any sprites whatsoever, which made it feel like the game world was extremely small and little detailed.

This is a huge contrast with Akabur's own work, Princess Trainer, in which basically everybody had their own sprites and they even appeared in CGs, even the OCs that you don't fuck. Thankfully this improves in chapter 5, with the inclusion of sprites for the Fairyboy Clerk, the Fat Foreman, the improved Monk sprite, Forley, the Merchant with a Turban, etc.

But the single worst thing about this game is its fap factor, unlike most porn games out there, a lot of the sex scenes in this game cannot be repeated willy-nilly, Chizza's scenes being the worst offender.

It is almost like the author was trolling us, back in the first chapter the game gives you the option of having sex with her, and you do. But like I said in my first sentence of this review, there were no CGs, it only showed her naked sprite for like a second and then you had to endure having to read those two going at it without any visual aid, honestly, it was more like reading a bad smut fanfiction than playing a porn game.

After that by progressing the game's plot you can have sex with Chizza again but with actual CGs this time, good, but only when some flags are unlocked of the MC getting hurt into a fight, getting drugged with aphrodisiacs, etc.

But since those flags were plot-related there are only a limited amount of them, so you can only have sex with Chizza that way like 3 times or so. In all of chapters 1-3, Chizza has 4 (one is a tit fuck) different sex scenes with different CGs (slight variations of the same ones aren't counted) and 1 CG of afterglow after a sex scene of pure text, and since starting chapter 4 I was unable to have sex with her with any of those scenes again or new ones.

Diastra is the same, a one-time only sex scene back in chapter 3 and no more. The only sex scene that could be repeated with regularity WAS (past tense being the key here) the tit fuck with Betika back in chapter 3, but even that was a pain in the ass because you had to wait like 3 or 4 days to collect her rent. After that you get a one-time only CG sex scene with Betika at the end of chapter 3.

In chapter 4 you can now have actual penetrative CG sex semi-regularly with Betika, you just have to pay the exorbitant amount of gold that is 1500 every time. And in chapter 4 Chizza stops working at the tavern, which reduces your income. And forget about your money in previous chapters, it gets lost when starting a new exe. The highest amount of money you can earn in this chapter is about 200 by becoming and working as a guard. There is also a one-time only CG sex scene with Sheila.

There is a little music in chapter 5, but its volume is a bit low even at max. The sound effects introduced in this chapter are however very much appreciated, as few as there are.

And praise the gods, after so long there is a new sex scene with a CG of Chizza in this chapter. And Betika has 2 CGs, but who cares about that bitch, am I right?

The game really improved in quality with chapter 5, though I'm afraid that there was too much boring questing and not enough sex. The plot is also progressing quite interestingly, even ending on a cliffhanger. If the game could allow us to access the sex scenes more freely and it was all packed up in one executable I would give it 4 stars, like it is now it only gets 3.
