This is probably a stupid question to ask on a pirate site, but can I just grab whatever music I want to put in a VN and upload it here? I have no intention of making any money so I wouldn't be using Patreon anyway.

If you are not planning to monetize the game, you will probably be fine, OP.
If you do monetize the game, a few things need to happen. 1: the label needs to actually find the game. 2: they need to decide if it's worth their time to pursue legal action. Both of those things are pretty unlikely for an 18+ game as far as I know.
If the music is by a smaller or independent artist, I guess there's a chance you may be contacted and told to remove their music since it's then associated with something pornographic.
I have never heard of a porn game that got a legal suit against because of a song ..... But who knows.

I did hear some well known songs in monetized games, so I would say that you can. And if anyone tries to contact and DMCA you, say that you need their full name.

legally you CAN NOT use copyrighted material of any kind unless youre the rights holder.
doesnt mean you cant get away with it just becareful whos material youre using, some bands like metallica will come after you regardless of a cease and desist
also might want to put some thought into not using real porn if your gonna go that avenue, since carrera got banned shes on a warpath sending out CnD orders to everyone instead of just those monetizing stolen assets, she absolutely will sue even if its just for a few bucks.
