Ren'Py - Chat Noir [v0.1.8] [Joy Boy]

This isn't quite dumpster fire but my god the story makes no sense. It goes from the girlfriend and boyfriend really adamant about no cheating/Ntr etc to the the boyfriend becoming super cuck. The choices make no difference. The pictures are meh at best. It would be what I would consider low effort 5 years ago. So unless you are a massive fan of NTS with a story that makes no sense and crap cg's this should be a hard pass. The dev would be better off abandoning this, figure out how to write a coherent story and figure out how to do AI pictures.

I want to start by saying that yes, the game has its bugs, but the plot is well-constructed, it is neither too slow nor too fast, it has writing errors yes, but it makes up for it with decent graphic quality, I like the ntr/nts theme and this game meets my expectations, I hope they continue developing.

Before even getting to the core of the game there are enough issues to 1-star this game. The UI is trash. You can't expand images without backing out into the gallery. But you can't back out to the gallery until you can exit a conversation. Problem with that is you are locked in until a new character starts a conversation. The English translation reminds me of the early MTL garbage. There is misgendered pronouns and almost nonsensical sentences. Example..."She is repairing a meeting. So both you and Evelyn are ivited" Okay, you can get what it means but it's seriously low bar.


I can't bother at this point with the story. Fix the UI and clean up the language.

I tried to find some logic in this game, but nothing, leaving aside the various graphic bugs, and also the writing, but what kind of plot is this, a Mc who knows everything, who is made fun of by everyone, but when he talks to FMC, he seems like the biggest idiot in the world, he has no reaction, but what kind of product is this.

Well I wouldn't crap on the graphics because for me it doesn't change much my enjoyment of said game. But the rest of the game is total garbage. First of all game is a glorified book aka kinetic novel. So developer openly states that he or she is not experienced enough or too lazy to track multiple diverse routes. which leads to two things. Plot that insults player intelligence every step of the way. And choices that change absolutely nothing in a grand scheme of things. Like if you want Mc to not be able to do anything about his girl cheating on him at lest make it in the way that he doesn't know about her cheating until it's to late. Until she cheated on him enough that she would swap him for any dude in a heart beat and start telling mc how useless he is for her thus leading the line to NTRS. Or again she cheated on mc so much that it's too insulting and humiliating for mc to forgive her. Thus NTR or fallout. Like they either come to conclusion you sleep with who ever you want I just don't want to know or literal fallout. But in this game we know every single ting about our girlfrien through either friend of our girlfriend or other dudes that we know and do jack shit nothing to stop it. Plus what the point in choices when they decide absolutely nothing. It's like having a car without wheels and entide drive train is welded stuck.

unfortunately not positive, the graphics are like a video game from some time ago, the options are few and do not change the story much, everything is very much driven to make MC a happy cuckold, then there are too many useless speeches and too many dark things between the characters, a mess already encountered in many similar VNs.

As of version 0.0.7, graphics looks like they are taken out of some kind of video game as screenshots, they do not look handcrafted or good. Story is not very interesting. There isn't much choice to made that effects the direction of the story. There is too much text and too little image. Whole messaging infrastructure is trash. You don't know who sent you message or who you can send a message to, without going into the messages menu and look for a message to light up when you move your mouse on them. You cannot click on the image you got on a chat, you have to go to the main telephone screen, enter the gallery, find the image then click on it there and when you click on a image in the gallery, you cannot go back by pressing a button. Only way to exit from a image in the gallery is making it the wallpaper.

As of short: bad and very little graphics, uninteresting story, and horrible game infrastructure.

For a game that's going to be 90% interacting by reading messages, the writing really needs a beta, or some other kind of editor to double check. Pronouns in particular seem to be something the dev is struggling with, as it feels like a fair number of the characters swap gender at random when being talked about.
