Chat Simulation Game - ideas, opinions, suggestions please!

So, I've started working on a chat simulation game of sorts. My idea so far is this:

• A game that simulates a mobile messenger app, where you chat with some lovely ladies
• Two editions - SFW and NSFW.
• Free Game, but patreon rewards offered (for the SFW edition only - the idea is that I don't want to accept funding or give rewards for the NSFW edition since here in Australia, the laws are quite confusing on that subject).
• The SFW would include some 'sexy' stuff potentially like flirting and maybe some suggestive language e.g. talk about sex, but no pics sent or porn scenes included whereas the NSFW edition could feature sex scenes and perhaps some fetishes.
• If you're wondering how the app would look, it's basically like looking at the facebook messenger app on your phone, only a different theme. You 'Tap' to send your next message or to speed up seeing the person you're chatting to's reply. You're then presented with options on how to reply at times, leading to different outcomes. Depending on if I can find a legit way of adding some porn content I could then add some "endings" to the chat stories/games which only trigger if you've made the right choices in your chat convos.
• There would be multiple stories within the 'chat simulator'. You'd choose these perhaps from either a pop-up menu or maybe through the use of 'app icons' on some home screen.
• As for the SFW vs NSFW, the idea is they'd include different content altogether. So, you might have a 'dating app' style chat simulation in the SFW but then another 'dating app' with different girls to chat with in the NSFW edition.

Some questions I have:

• So, what do you think about my idea? Might you enjoy it?
• What are my chances of finding some real-porn that I can legit use. Not looking to get removal requests or sued. Any royalty-free resources or sources that won't care if the content is used? So far I'm considering limiting image use to pixabay and similar 'royalty free' image sites and maybe the 'thispersondoesnotexist' website for some messenger contact profile images.
• Any thoughts on Patreon and my idea to separate the SFW and NSFW editions to make it all legal?
• Any games already existing just like my idea? I'd like to be a bit original here with the concept and not step on any other creators toes.

If you're the writer, you need to be exceptionally talented to create and tell a story through just text messages alone just to keep the player of the game engaged and interested.

as well as fictitious non consensual sexual acts. I think it would be best and more appealing to an audience if you learned to draw, then used 2d images, for portaits and photos. Extending on this, learn to animate in a program like clip art studio to create "videos" that the actors can send the player through texts.

This is going to be harsh. You have a better vision of the game than I do as it's creator, so take this with a grain of salt.

It's not a bad idea, it has potential and seems like a great easy to make first project. If you are trying to make money off of a pornographic game I don't think its a good idea, make the because you want to see your creation become real and have fun with it.

The ones I played through used Twine as the underlying program.

There were internal timers and things to simulate delays, or when the other person is doing something. (Repeat playthroughs can skip that.)

Maybe could have an online version where the first half is actually typing and being answered by an AI chatbot hah...

Yes unfortunately I'm very limited with graphics. As a baseline, the concept would be to have very limited graphics at first and then to add more in gradually. It'd be great if I had the talent to build an AI, but alas I think that might be too challenging! Thanks for the feedback Cul !

I am aware of this. Do you think that by providing a SFW version and a NSFW version (outside of Patreon) I could "get around" these limitations? I've seen someone else similarly mention this flat-out on their Patreon page that they make "games" and that you're supporting their SFW game, but you can also get their NSFW games elsewhere. I suppose it depends how Patreon determines to look at "what" is being funded exactly and what's being rewarded. I don't plan to give out any rewards for the NSFW version, and I could probably just call it something different altogether. The SFW version could include a lot of sexy stuff regardless, since it's just "sexting" type stuff.

I'd love to find the time to work on 2d graphics myself, although I may be better off focusing on one part of the game and seeing if I can find someone to jump in and do the graphics (I imagine that'll be a challenge in itself).

I never played Catherine (and now I want to lol). Also there's some good advise here so thank you OsamiWorks for all your feedback it's really appreciated! I'm going to take this info onboard. My motivation to create a great little demo is sparking right now so I'm going back to working on it since I have a few hours today luckily!!

I don't suppose you know what those games were called fenelia ? I want to play as many of those as possible. The underlying program for my game will be HTML based using VueJS. I've used Twine previously - truly an amazing platform, I just didn't think it fit the project needs in this case.

The concept is good. It makes you feel like you're talking/chatting with someone through the phone. You can't actually type your responses (it's a simple branching tree structure), but the writing is effective. That's really the key with the Lifeline stories.

The concept is good. It makes you feel like you're talking/chatting with someone through the phone. You can't actually type your responses (it's a simple branching tree structure), but the writing is effective. That's really the key with the Lifeline stories.

A couple if interesting points raised here, as a Brit i'm gonna opt out of talking about the legal situation in Australia beyond one comment, patreon funds a person not a project, it's somewhat of a loophole IMO that lets people monitize parodies and such in a way that they may not otherwise be able to, so you may not need to use the NSFW/SFW thing for safety reasons, though i'm no lawyer let alone one versed in law from the other side of the planet.

As for the sexy conversation simulator, i like it, i would highly advise you to have a look at Bbben's let me out and let me in games, both are interesting conversation simulators done in an AIF engine, adrift i think.

Don't feel obliged to use real porn either, this idea could be done with relatively few renders using something like DAZ/honeyselect, which means you can tailor the content to exactly what you want it to be without spending years on development, a lot of VN's use thousands of images, sometimes a thousand or more per update, however since the game will spend most of it's time in a chat window you could get by with a fraction of that.

IMO this is a good idea, however it will be limited by your capacity to write good dialog, fortunately there are plenty of decent ways to learn that, not least any of the free resources out there for writing scripts, screenplays, plays and things like that, it's quite a neat way of being economical with content without making the game purely text based.

Well, since there are no rewards for the NSFW edition it'd be like a separate game that I'll create, which would basically suggest that if you want to support "me", support my other game. You'd get earlier access to that one. If I find that I'm not able to get any funding this way, I'll look at other options, although honestly I'm not really allowed to make money from NSFW games as far I as I can tell. Really backwards on this front.
