Wolf RPG - Completed - Chevalier HIstorie Append [v2.02] [PicoPicoSoft / Kagura Games]

This game somehow ticks all the boxes of the genre but either fails in its execution or just does not manage to stand out, ending up being an average game.

Gameplay
Combat:
It is an Action-RPG and not a turn-based one which is a nice change. Unfortunately it is very basic, you spam the attack button and that's it. Worse still, you cannot move during the animation and the range is literally 5 pixels in front of you. At least the game is very easy so it is not too much of a hindrance...
Sex:
When it comes to sex, it is a "lose to get raped" system, which you have to do on purpose so meh. There are some other ways to get scenes which adds to the variety, through interaction with NPCs in town.
There is a system of character corruption (for sex and evil) but they only have 3 levels each and apart from unlocking quests they do not have much use.
You have stats for her "body parts usage" but it serves no purpose whatsoever, apart from showing semen on her mouth/boobs/crotch (on the menu screen) when used a lot

Story
Plot: So it is the story of... Just kidding, it is the usual, nothing to say here.
It is fairly disappointing that her level of corruption does not reflect at all during sex scenes. Hearing her say please stop when she's been doing it all day is just meh.

Art
The drawings are fairly nice, but is is mostly static pics with small cut-in animations for mouth and xray vagina/anus, or the typical VN full screen pics. The latter ones are drawn with "invisible dicks", so you get to see her open vagina/anus (I personally dislike that, but to each their own)

Sound
The dubbing is rather generic and lackluster, and it annoyed me that when in a situation with several people (gang bang etc) the voiceovers actually stack instead of having them one at a time, which makes it like she is several people at the same time, which is really weird.

Conclusion:
The game is ok in what it does but will be quickly forgotten in my opinion.
You cannot even just download it for curiosity easily because of the huge size of the game.

Generic and defeat rape focused, with your choices not really mattering. The combat is weak and unbalanced in your favor, so the defeat part is a little difficult but you unlock the scenes anyway so whatev. One stand out IMO is that it actually has a secret path ending that involves being defeated and losing your virginity to a specific NPC and going down a full questline, although it's mostly backed on novelty.

So; ye basic porn game, nothing special, nothing bad.

Overall: Does nothing for the genre. Your enjoyment of the game will likely depend solely if you're into yet another (a)rpg where a cute heroine is exploited and raped. This review was written for the v1.02 official English release, which doesn't include the "Append" content found in the Japanese version.
Playtime: 3-4 hours, depending on how much you read. NG+ runs take less than an hour.
Good:
+ The male prostitution sidequest was actually quite nice! An uncommon theme, not rapey, and they're actually good people. It almost feels like the dev had to include it after losing a bet.
+ Virgins runs are possible, and quite easy even if you aren't using the items that basically guarantee it.
+ You can still get a virgin even if you do prostitution since anal doesn't count
+ You can unlock the full gallery for free after clearing the game... but it's unlocked for all files, not just the one who opened it
YMMV:
= The "whorehouse" is where orgies are held. Who's naming these buildings?
= The vast majority of the scenes in this game are rape of some flavor. If you're not here for that then there'll be little h-content for you: mostly just street-prostitution, the male prostitutes, and maybe one CG (which doesn't even involve the main character).
Bad:
- Even when you prostitute yourself the voice-over is still all yamete and yada
- You can't attack if a movement key is being held, so combat is nowhere near as dynamic as one would expect
-Speaking of which, there's no depth or srategy to combat. Whale on enemies until they're dead; buy potions at the store if you ever fall below 2. Since you can't move and attack you'll mostly swing your sword while standing still and letting enemies path into you. Dash into the boss, tank a hit, and swing your sword. You eventually unlock a skill which causes your dash to do 50% attack damage (nice). There's also magic, but they take a while to charge and don't have significant effect.
- The majority of scenes and endings are dependent are you losing fights. On purpose, since there's no way these papier-mâché werewolves can actually stand up to Jeanne's power.
- Usually when you proposition someone in this game, you then get another option to confirm or choose the location. But when you proposition the knight captain it jumps straight to sex. Hope you weren't trying for a virgin run!
- The Feud system. Why is it even called "Feud"? No actual feuding happens. The implementation is also nonsensical. You run into someone to talk to them, but you need to stand facing them and press Confirm to bring up the Feud menu... which mainly involves talking to them. It would be much smoother to move a chitchat option to the top of the Feud menu and have all interactions trigger the same way.
- The plot is not particularly engaging. The devs tried to do something a little more complex than "they kidnapped the spirits to do evil" but fell flat and ended up with "they kidnapped the spirits to do rape."

an okay game... you can finish this in two hours

Imo, Wolf Rpg games are hit or miss. This game seems to be somewhere in the middle. Superb art, Bad "gameplay", Generic story, Uninspired ending. Pretty much a mediocre game with excellent H scenes. Play this only for the H. Everything else will bore you to tears.

Actually a great game, I do not like Kagura games that much but this one has great art and surprisingly good gameplay + battle rape events, BUT only after you skip the first 15 min of boring text. Highly recommend skipping the intro as the story is not worth it and it's so generic that you probably have read it already in similar games.

PROS:
+ Great Art
+ Many scenes (probably 20+ sequences)
+ Uncensored
+ Battle rape events which integrate well with the gameplay
+ Many fetishes like bestiality, exhibitionism, clothing destruction, creampie, prositution etc.
+ Well translated

CONS:
- Extremely boring and unoriginal story + dialogues. I've read MTL text that was more exciting tbh.
- Longest intro ever, consider skipping as the text displays veryyy slow and the story can be summarized one sentence "heroine fails to save her princess and tries to rescue her".
