I think it might be in Vanny's best interest to say the full game will release in 2026 (but not specify when exactly) and not bother with releasing updates till then. That way, people will stop getting upset when the pricemeal updates don't drop on time and Vanny gets to focus more on the game.

As for contacting the dev? We shouldn’t have to track someone down to get the basic communication they promised on a paid platform.

Let me preface this response by saying I don't think your overall message is at all wrong. I am only correcting this singular point. The communication promised on the paid platforms is delivered through the Discord server that said paid platforms grant access to. And said communication has been daily basically, which is how JJTrunks has been able to update us at all.

There have been plenty of pirates who've tried to argue that piracy is actually a good thing and "helps" developers in the long run. (Just ignore the fact that a few games have reported that 90%+ of the copies of them floating around are pirated versions.)

Though I WILL echo the sentiment of "if buying isn't owning, then piracy isn't stealing" that has been floating around for a while now due to Ubisoft and Steam.

(My point is that some pirates can get plenty "political" too.)

I’m not trying to stir up trouble, but I don’t want to sit by and watch people literally burn money for another year. It’s easy to say “it’s just a game” or “be patient,” but people are paying for this.


It’s been over a year. We deserve something — even a small in-between update, a solid release date, or the regular polls that were promised on the Patreon.


We can’t keep normalizing this kind of radio silence while money continues to flow into a project that’s giving nothing back. At some point, you have to ask: where is the line? Because I think we’ve already crossed it.

and sure, life goes on — but that doesn’t mean people shouldn’t hold creators accountable. It’s because I care about my time and money that I’m speaking up. If I didn’t care, I wouldn’t be here.


Saying “it’s just a silly game” ignores the fact that a lot of us believed in this project and invested in it in good faith. People are allowed to feel frustrated when that trust is broken. Telling folks to sit back and wait isn’t a solution — especially when we’ve already waited over a year.


If nothing else, I just want people to think twice before blindly trusting a dev again. That’s all.

Yeah, I've been played for a fool like six times over now. Six times I've supported projects that ended up going NOWHERE. Twice the devs at least admitted that they were giving up or otherwise couldn't continue instead of just endlessly stringing folks along.

It's the developer of "Fortune's Run", an immersive sim, retro-style fps game (not quite boomer shooter). There was another game in development that I was a fan of (but didn't support) where the lead dev committed suicide which really sucked.

Also update, if I do learn sfm OR blender, then i can help Vanny, you know what else! Everyone here could also be investing some time into learning either of those as well, and from the entire experience you might become an actually talented 3d animator and start a patreon of your own and get money and stop working a boring j*b and make stuff that people will look up to you for because they are to lazy to learn it themselves, so for the people sitting on their asses doing nothing and begging for the project to go somewhere, learn something useful instead of begging it to go somewhere when your doing nothing to make it go anywhere and actually do something about it (and who knows, maybe an update will actually come out!)

that being said, I have been picking up learning Mugen, making my own sprites for characters no one has seemed to made, making the animations, matching the sprites. i'd be lying to say it was that easy though, god knows how hard making an actual game is like.
