I'm wondering if anyone know of any good games with a good childhood friend romance. Better yet if the MC and the RO are slow to realize they have feelings for one another. And I'd rather it not have NTR unless it's optional or it's more a minor part of the story. Bonus points if the childhood friend is a tomboy.

Also. not sure if it makes any difference but when i say "childhood friend romance" it can also be a "best friend to lovers" type romance too. So really the title probably should've been childhood/best friend romances.

Sadly, in the current version you don't quite get any action with that female best friend. There's lots of teasing and build-up though.
It's a nice topic you've started and I hope others can make good suggestions. Seems like an underused trope (I mean the real thing, not sister-cest in disguise)

This might be a stretch, but it sounds like you'd enjoy the romance with Nicki in Friends in Need.
It's definitely more the best friends version than childhood friends as the main character is roughly 10 years older than Nicki. The backstory is that you used to work together and were best friends but neither ever confessed their feelings for a variety of reasons.
Nicki can be a little controversial. Without spoiling too much, she doesn't always make the best decisions and there is really a big range when it comes to how sympathetic players feel about those decisions. But even if you feel mad at Nicki, the game does a pretty good job of letting you express that and still have a romance with her. Just to be clear though, it's not NTR as that definitely would not be appealing to me.
And hey bonus points because Nicki is sort of a tomboy. More of the nerdy type than outdoorsy or athletic but I'm pretty sure she is directly referred to as a tomboy at some point.

Honestly, I want something with a slower buildup anyway just sucks though that it's still incomplete atm.
Yeah i was surprised when i tried searching on here for "friend romances" how almost everything was just NTR games. I figured friend to romance would be a more popular trope.
Thanks for the suggestion! though I've already tried Friends in Need and Nikki is my favorite character in there too. Nikki along with Rion from Sandstorm and Kim from Altered Destiny are the characters who made me realize that I liked this sort of trope and why I'm looking for other games where that is hopefully a bigger focus.
Bump but, for anyone else curious for this type of romance Intertwined has romance like this though it's somewhat NTRish.

It is somewhat surprising that this is an underserved trope. Especially in the realistic 3dcg art style.
Seeking Closure features a reunion with a childhood friend as one of the potential LI. Hopefully it would be a full fledged route by the end.

It's a pretty simple one by current VN standards, but Tomboys Need Love Too! does this in its main (and best) route.
