I've been reliably informed that American English is closer to Shakespearean English than English English so no, the Americans didn't improve it although they may have dumbed it down a tad. Having said that thank you for Netflix and YouTube they have proven to be quite entertaining.

It was the Europeans who discovered and settled the American continent.

Basically, everything you listed is thanks to the Europeans.
MP3s were invented by Germans. How would you listen to music today without MP3s?
Apple's success is based on stealing Braun's innovations (German company).
The WWW was invented by the Swiss and UK.
And without the MPEG-4 format (European Compression Standard), Netflix, YouTube, or any other platform would not be able to stream videos.
