Ren'Py - Completed - Complex Society [v1.00.1b] [AbrokenA Productions]

For the dev's first game, it was pretty decent. The major turnoff was the default koikatsu which felt incredibly plain and simple. The plot is also a bit decent since it adds a twist to the typical "mc wants to fuck everyone in his house and town" but it felt weird with the je- I mean secret society which controls everything. A unique concept but the execution could be better. The ending also felt a bit rushed. The dialogue was very plot-dense, which seemed like filler for the lack of other content. Also, there aren't any sandbox sex scenes, just ones related to the story. But it is a good start for the dev. I wish him luck in his next endeavor.

Excellent, I really liked it, a lot of love and passion. The plot is good and interesting. I really liked the characters, some made me think about how Lucille was (Lucille is a cute pervert, one might even say completely, but very beloved)))) but anything can happen in life, and even more so in a game))) But I liked absolutely all the girls, they all have its own story. There are also cool arts, some even perverted and crazy).
There is only one minus: There is quite a lot of action before the real sex scenes, and it’s a shame that after finally collecting the harem after one scene, it’s already the end of the game))) I would like more scenes with them.

First and foremost. Holy MOTHER with the text. It's not that it's bad, but it is bothersome.

It tries to have a good story, and I did enjoyed it, but it was far too much text for a single conversation. The serious ones were understandable, but then, every conversation is as lengthy, or just a little less.

It feels like a lot of content was left out, for at least 2 reasons. Either because everyone knows money works, and fearing your patreons leaving because of ONE character not being vanilla as fuck as originally intended, or another perhaps (teacher). Or because of simply burning out. The ending is axed, you just fuck everyone once and done, ready to go. It has less content than 1 gb games of similar design I've played, that's a bit sad.

Still, I do think this was worth it. It's just... so much without content. There's nothing wrong with a girl being so slutty, with the real definition coming to play, as long as you can just avoid it and that vanilla story is good. I rather enjoy vanilla, but this case, it's my first time feeling like too much content was lost because of it.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this game, so much so, that for 10 days I did not even play anything else. Inspite its negatives.

    Negatives
    • The writing quality isn't that good (grammar, duplicate words, etc.)
    • Sometimes scenes don't really connect properly to one another
    • Which later on, extends to outfit changes too, for some scenes
    • There are certain scenes, where the writing feels off, possibly due to the story being writen from an incest angle first
    • Some backgrounds can feel really empty. However, they never felt off to me.
    • In some angles, the waifus' proportions can seem weird, or pretty extreme
    • Money is effectively useless in this game, after roughly 2 or 3 scenes
    • Helping the neighbor and not charging him, doesn't trigger any extra scenes
    • Some characters have less content than others, one is even missing a date event, with the statement, that it's not available in this version...
    • Not really good music selection, nor variety
Some of these and others are mentioned in the intro, which I highly recommend checking out, in order to adjust your expectations.
Also... the "voiced" tag, is probably just about the moans in the H scenes..

    Positives
    • Characters and waifus
    • Waifu scenes and their writing (content)
    • H scenes' animations with multiple angles
    • Lovely Koikatsu models
    • Developer notes

    • Decent story
    • No need to grind
    • Crazy ending
    • Lots of romance and sweetness
    • The game is free, finished and even shared here by the developer himself
    • The "external" walkthrough

    In conclusion
Where this game shined for me, was the writing (content) and the characters themselves. Especially the sweet waifu scenes, their writing and how some of them moved things forward. However, I liked the repeating ones as well.

All in all, if you like the Koikatsu models and the overall look and premise of the game, I can recommend it. However, read the intro, it helps with adjusting expectations.

It has the potential to be a great game but I think that in the process they had to force an ending before abandoning it, only the scenes with Luciel were done thoroughly. The rest is forced and "incomplete". I really became disappointed as it progressed but I have respect for the creator for at least finishing it. as other games end up abandoned or they make a remake for slow the progres.

When I first started Complex Society, I thought I was going to hate it. The artstyle is certainly an acquired taste and some characters look silly even in the context of the style (*cough* Jenkins *cough*), but the game really makes a poor first impression with it's navigation scheme. There's something about the main character's house and school that feels labyrinthian at first, since all you have to guide you are yellow arrow icons and the camera angles between locations aren't always consistent with your previous orientation.

But when I gave it more of a chance, I found a lot to love in this slow-burn taboo story. Sure, I didn't like that a well-funded clandestine operation was introduced to support something no well-funded clandestine operation would ever touch, but it didn't have as much bearing as I was afraid it would on the relationships that develop in the MC's household.

That said, the further I got into Complex Society, the more another problem stuck out. The dialogue can be downright superfluous at times. It's not bad and often quite believable, but characters speak in such roundabout ways that there were scenes where I skipped ten lines of dialogue and didn't feel like I missed a single relevant point.

Overall though, it's a charming story with wholesome moments and a main character who doesn't come across as a manipulative sociopath. which is hard to find in these games.

Personally - I cannot handle the jank. I might have played every eurojank out there, but this one has bested me. It's a good game, don't get me wrong, but some triggers and logic sequences are so confusing, and situations are just plainout weird. I know the dev already apologizes for some of it in the intro, but goddamn. I broke the game on the first 5 minutes by just exploring the house. It has pretty good scenes but the game I find to be just too janky.

Love the Fernet reference! Maybe dev is one of us but who knows. ;)

The game had much more content planned and was abandoned to its rushed/wholly unsatisfying ending, I do not recommend this game to others in its iteration of 1.00.1b, and I recommend taking in stride that this is incomplete writing before picking this up

Was more heartwarming and wholesome than expected. Was totally worth the 7 hours to play the story in one go. The sories about helping the girls are things i would really try to do (sans the extra H of course) and the way it can wrap up at the end if you do it right it awsome. Always good to see a 'happily ever after in these stories

This game was successfully completed which I feel like is a win for the developer.

Now, the reason for 3 stars is that while the game isn't bad, it also isn't particularly unique (in terms of gameplay/story), hot, pretty or fun, but it also isn't bad.

    Pros:
    - The storyline wasn't bad.
    - Character models (while proportions are wrong) look unique compared to other games on this site.
    - The sex scenes do have a few animations and do look decent.

    Cons:
    - The amount of content is minimal in terms of sex scenes for each character. It felt like each woman had like 3-4 scenes at most.
    - The story and its ending was abrupt, didn't make that much sense, and all of the characters could've used a lot more relationship building.
    - The proportions of the models don't make too much sense.
    - The sex scenes felt kinda rudimentary, could've used a bit more love and postions.
    - If the story is that story-driven and you need to do the stories in a specific order then there was no point in the open-world for this game. You are working for the same ending and you constantly have a "To proceed with this character, please progress X's story".

Otherwise it's a pretty decent game, could've used more time in the cooker, but the content that it has makes it in the "average" range for me. Though a completed game's average and an uncompleted game's average are different, so a game staying as average once it's completed is a honest praise I can give.

    3/5 stars.

The scenes are good and the history of the game is new and refreshing, however the game "choices" are a joke, this game gives you the illusion of a choice, the choices are pretty much useless they don't change the story, it only grants an extra scene or picture.

Also the tutorial is pretty useless, you almost never have to check for such small items on the map/place.
  12. 4.00 star(s)

    Bugbear32

This game is frustratingly bland. The writer has some good ideas and seems interested in exploring different sorts of relationships, but it just never really comes together and suddenly nosedives right into what I call "stupid porno logic." As an example, for the vast majority of the game, the MC is not your stereotypical magic-dick-haver that every woman on the planet is immediately attracted to. Until the end, where he suddenly becomes one. For the vast majority of the game, your love interests struggle at least somewhat with breaking taboos. Until the end, where they just all throw themselves on MC's cock over and over again. Also, why make a sandbox game where you don't really have any choices of where to go or what to do? This is a visual novel in a sandbox costume.

The fact that this review reads kind of harsh but I gave it 4 stars is a testament to how good this game almost was, or how good it could have been, if the dev hadn't lost interest and wrapped everything up with such an ill-fitting ending.

Great game, 4/5 stars for me.

Beautiful graphics, beautiful girls, fun dialogue.

The reason I didn’t give it 5/5 is that the ending felt… rushed. I was honestly expecting many more updates before completion, and was very surprised when I saw the finished tag. There were side characters left out, some quests left unfinished, and the ending, while fleshed out, had so much potential to be fleshed out throughout the game.

All-in-all, it was a fun ride for the dev’s first game, but I definitely feel like there was so much more potential here.

Pretty standard harem animu sandbox game... it plays straightforwardly enough, although it seems like the dev just kinda stopped developing at some point and decided to just wrap everything up a harem end that's sorta out of nowhere. Not very satisfying but it beats abandoning the game, I guess.

Top 5 favorite games on my list, the characters are the best, and I'm just starting the game, the story is also very good and the protagonist is one of the best in this type of game.

UPDATE: It's a shame it didn't end the way you'd expect, but it's still a good game.

Complex Society is a harem VN about the incestuous love a boy has for his mother and sister and the secret Illuminati-like society dedicated to seeing it come to fruition.

It's exactly as absurd as it sounds, but the incest Illuminati doesn't cause any problems for the story. The real problems spring from the massive incel energy that the main character channels and its abrupt ending.

The incel bit isn't immediately apparent, but it really shows itself as the story progresses. The main character's defining characteristic is that he's a nice guy. He's 22 and going to school, but doesn't appear to have anything in mind for the future as far as a college major or job prospects go. His focus is on competitive video gaming, but frankly that content could have been cut from the story for as much focus as it receives. He never actually pursues any of the love interests, allowing dumb luck, the Complex Society, or the girls themselves to bring them closer.

A lot of this is typical harem protagonist style shit, but it's the nice guy thing that's glaringly brutal. The main character's plan to romance the love interests appears to be simply be close by while the love interests live out their lives and hope they realize how nice a guy he is. Fortunately for him, four out of the five love interests in the story were used by men and discarded in some form or fashion, so they're apparently vulnerable to this plan. We're frequently shown their internal monologues and it's frankly nauseating the way they harp about how nice he is when they're not sex drunk from his multi-orgasmic dick.

Speaking of that multi-orgasmic dick, the story ends

It's brutally abrupt, absurd, and solves all the story's remaining problems with the subtly of a sawed-off shotgun.

While I might loathe the main character, the love interests are decent outside of their terrible taste in men. You've got the mom with intense mommy energy, the sister who's a huge bro-con, the slutty(?) best friend of the sis, the lonely teacher who can't get a man to save her life, and the classmate with a dark past. As seen in the images, they're all titty monsters, which is a little boring but acceptable. Their stories might actually be pretty good if they didn't all share the same note of "look at this beautiful woman misused by terrible men just waiting for a nice guy to save them."

The gameplay consists of a time-management scaffold where you scene hunt through a linear story. There's the set up for a lot of focus on the professional gaming scene the main character is involved in, but outside of a single scene for the teacher's story, it appears to have been completely cut. Don't bother grinding your stats once you win the local tournament. Also, pick a high-tier character because popularity doesn't matter. I think you need like $300 to complete the entire game's content.

Overall, Complex Society is a mess. There were a handful of scenes I enjoyed throughout the game, but they mostly involved the side characters, as big mommy energy does next to nothing for me and received a lot of focus. I like Koikatsu models, but I can't recommend this game to anyone save the most dedicated incest fanatics.

I thought I had reviewed this a while back but I guess not. This game is another visual novel masquerading as a sandbox - it does try to add some quality of life features like a built-in guide and a half-assed fast travel option, but it really does become a slog and is 80% on rails (and the 20% of time it isn't on rails is it just giving you a list of things you need to do before you get back on the rails). That said, if you enjoy incest content, the sexual content is quite rewarding - models are nice and sex dialog (even the non-incest stuff) is very good. However, it takes a lot of faff to get to it.

    Gameplay: OOOOO
As mentioned, this is a sandbox that should have been a VN. This would usually put the gameplay around 1 and 2 stars anyways, but let's talk about grind: The dev tells you that there is no reason to grind but forgets that the whole game is a grind - chief of which is the school mechanic. Not sure what the consequences of missing school are but the dev reminds you constantly that you better be going to school every damn day. So, wake up, click the map, click the school, click the school map, click the classroom, click start class. Do the rest of your day. Then wake up, click the map, click the school, click the school map, click the classroom, click start class. Do the rest of your day. Then wake up, click the map, click the school, click the school map, click the classroom, click start class. Do the rest of your day. Then wake up, click the map, click the school, click the school map, click the classroom, click start class. Do the rest of your day. Then wake up, click the map, click the school, click the school map, click the classroom, click start class. Do the rest of your day. ... Naturally, madness ensues. Dude, how about a button in your bedroom that says "Fast travel to school and begin class"? I feel like I'm losing my goddamn mind. It seems like dev thinks "grind" only applies to money - imo grind is any repetitive action a player needs to take in order to progress in a game. This game has a lot of that.

    Writing: OOOOO
Now, the story: Dev tried to do something a little different than a typical incest flick, but it didn't pay off. Premise is that there is this illuminati-esque group that wants incest to be normal, and you happen to discover them, and they work their asses off making your mom and sister want to fuck you. It's fine, but the game doesn't make it believable/sensible, despite using a LOT of words and percentage of in-game text trying to do so. Imo the game would have been a lot better without this. I have a macro on my mouse that spams left click for me (I'm aware I can enable skip unseen text, usually I don't need to..). I was holding this macro down 70% of my playthrough of this game.

The reason this is getting 3 gold rings instead of 1 is because the writing in the sex scenes is very good. Kinky dialog, lots of depraved shit that is right up my alley. The behaviors and mannerisms of the characters and their interactions with each other leading up to and during the sex scenes are great.

    Sex Content: OOOOO
As mentioned, the writing in the sex scenes is very good. I think the animations are great, there is usually a number of poses and the scenes themselves are quite long. Why then 3 gold rings? Simply because it takes way too long to get to them. Obviously this is something of personal taste but with the amount of text I skipped in game and it still took HOURS to get to the content I was looking for, fuck.

    Overall Rating: OOOOO
Technically an average of 2.33, I'm choosing to round up simply because I can tell the dev is trying. There is a nice gallery, the UI looks pretty, lots of images and renders where created, etc. There was undoubtedly a lot of work that went into this - it shows. However, there was a lot of work that went into cutting down the amazon rainforest and I'm not praising that. The sex scenes are truly great, it's just everything else tying them together isn't, in my opinion. Play if you have a lot of time to burn and are feeling tolerable of some faff to get some good sex scenes.

Edit: Oh, and I guess I can give a hint at the ending, was something I was wondering about before playing:

Maybe it could have used one more update for more harem stuff but this is still a decent enough place to end it. It's rare to see a dev willing to finish a game here instead of milk it with barebones updates and timewasting for years after it's mostly story complete. So I have a lot of respect for this dev.

It's a good game, really enjoyed how the mom and sister were both very sweet and loving characters instead of slutty or bitchy like many other games (nothing wrong with that either but I prefer characters like this). Didn't care much for the side characters (rarely do in incest games tbh) but these 2 were enough for me to enjoy the game.

In particular it was one of my favorite mom characters in all of games. I just loved how sweet and caring and well motherly she was, but also still sexy and willing to do anything for MC. I liked the slow paced and story driven build up to sexy stuff with her, makes the payoff better and you feel more invested. She actually looked and felt like a mom instead of a super model that looks in her 20s that just happens to live in your house and call you son and just throws herself at MC with no logical buildup like the "mom" characters in a lot of other games. Only wish there were a few more sexy scenes between first sexual stuff and full sex to build it up a bit more. Like more of the sunblock massage scenes for example would have been nice. But still a great route overall.

The renders and some other issues are not ideal so it's realistically more like a 4 star game but the story and characters were great and I want to show support to a dev who didn't milk their game forever and instead ended it so I'll give it 5 stars. Good work dev. I look forward to your next game, if you are making one. I hope it has a mom character as amazing as this one!

Sad to see this good game not get the ending it deserved, but I'm glad we got the amount of resolution we did. Hopefully it was a good experience overall for the dev. There were growing pains to be sure, but Alice and Elly will go down as one of my favorite mother/daughter pairs in any of these games thus far.

    Rain01

I wanted to give this a 5 stars (more like 4.5 stars rounded up) because some of the relationships were pretty sweet and all, but there's two big issues I have with this game.

First is the godawful money issue. Early-mid game you basically can't make money, you have to explore an aggravating number of options to find people to give tools because I lost a Smash Bros tournament and had no money to buy tools. This was a complete waste of my time, since you have to talk to certain people at a certain time of the day or it doesn't work. The map's unnecessarily large and complex, so it probably took me like 2 hours to find the tools to do gardening to make money. This whole requirement should not exist. Especially because later in the story once you have enough money and Smash training to win the higher prize tournaments as well as unlocking daily tournaments, money immediately becomes a joke.

There's two other issues I have. First, while this is supposed to be a relatively vanilla harem game, the dev has a serious kink for 'used' women. I get that having experience is fine and doesn't make the woman less worthy in general, but it feels like they just won't shut up about how much sex they've had before. Maybe that's just the order I did events in, but like half the cast apparently have a bodycount that's seemingly in the hundreds. The vibe it gives just does not vibe with the general wholesome vanilla-like atmosphere the game generally goes for.

Apart from that, the last issue I had was how awkward the writing is if you don't change their relationship to incest. This affects pretty much the whole plot. It's hard not to be annoyed when the mc finds someone else fucking their 'landlady' and is completely shocked, talking about how society would basically want to burn at the stake anyone in a tenant-landlady relationship. It probably wouldn't even be that much work to make this presentable as a proper relationship, just focus on the cheating aspect (since she's married) rather than how awful it is for a 'tenant' to fuck their 'landlady'.

Like I said prior, I generally like the game. the dialogue makes the characters feel more-or-less fleshed out and it's understandable why the girls like the mc (which is way more than I can say for most of these games), but those issues make me almost want to rate it 3/5 rather than the 5/5 I'd have given it if they were fixed.
