This is going to be a biased statement, but I believe the allure/fans of certain tags (especially NTR) is actually an indirect interest in corruption, and what makes or break a long running story is how the corruption is written, it is the core of preventing sex scenes from being repetitive and stagnant.
before we begin, I need to preface this as I am not an experienced porn writer/porn game dev, but just a dude with a corruption fetish confident in his own analytical skills(that might have dabbled in making games). I decided to write this as I am tired of the mass of low quality crap that graces the net( and maybe I just want more things to my taste

What is corruption?
In the context of porn stories, it's when characters get pushed accepting into more depraved acts, often turning innocent characters into complete sluts. However that is not just the only use case for this, even vanilla stories can benefit from some "corruption" where the innocent couple takes steps to further their intimacy, a the simplest example would be the couple finally crossing the line into having sex, or even something like going from holding hands to holding breasts. Another vanilla friendly example would be the innocent girlfriend getting convinced to wear sexier costumes for her partner.
EDIT: after a discussion below, I do need to admit this is a looser definition that includes "Sexual progression" which I personally see as "soft corruption". Normally, the corruption tag invokes the more negative image of a depraved fall of a character.
What is corruption's role in stories?
If you think about it corruption in porn is akin to power scaling in action stories, it's no fun when the character starts off fully overpowered without having to work for any power ups. Your characters getting more depraved and exploring further into pleasure and the journey towards is an often under utilized part of the genre that really gives certain series their growth and avoids stagnation of sex scenes.
It's about the journey, not the destination
The main offenders are those that have the girls turn into instant sluts from one dose of vitamin big D.
Many stories I've read (hentai manga, VNs, porn games here) tend to focus on the new state of the character after crossing a line, or quickly wanting to show the character in depraved acts. Making something grindy for the player to get from Corruption Point A to Corruption Point B is just tedious and will not sweeten the unlock when they finally get there. If you want effort from the player, you need to give the same amount of results. Instead of playing 15 mins of generic minigame to pass a threshold to make a blowjob scene change into deepthroat scene, give the player more insights into their progress, not some [0/15] counter, but make it so that the scene changes slightly after a small-medium grind, just bite the bullet and make more scenes, have a corruption meter that voices the character's inner thoughts, get creative. This is especially true if you're making a "game with porn" and not a "porn game", remember what's the main draw of your game, especially if it's basically an inferior version of an existing game and your selling point is that it has porn in it.
Choose your starting corruption point and be creative with making obstacles
Figure out what your character is already open to at the start, and know that the lewder they are, the less steps you have before you have to get into the more creative extremes. Remember there is no universal "progression" you need to follow, as long as your character feels that one act is a personal taboo, it is fine to create your own obstacles to jump over.

This is why the genre is a laughing stock with their low quality and high quantity, because authors want to add quick spice or think it's just the "go to" tag without figuring out why.
If you do choose to go with NTR, think to yourself the reasons and usage. Are you focusing on the cheating aspect? Are you simply just using it for a cheap taboo? Are you using it just because it's popular? What does it add to the game/story?
I'm not saying NTR is bad, I'm saying that using it willy nilly just because will not do your writing any favours. Focus on what benefits it'll bring to your story/project.
Understand your own strengths and weaknesses(+ misc ranting)
This is more generic advice, but understanding the main selling point of your game/story is better than making a generic one with things you think might sell mashed together. This is especially true about the amount of effort and money you can put into the project, overestimate yourself and you're just another abandoned project in the sea.
You do not need to please everyone, you just need to please a demographic that'll really enjoy it, specialize instead of making something generic. Having a few characters explore deep into a certain topic is much better than 20 characters lightly touching on every fetish.
When finding your niche remember,
Not everyone will enjoy unrealistic kinks and it's alright (look at the amount of debates on cervix penetration) (John K. Peta goes nuts with anatomy and bro is still making H manga). Unless your selling point is realism, who cares? Fiction is fiction for a reason. If you do make it realistic, remember to find a selling point of it over watching regular porn.
When you need to cut budget/effort and trim a project, try to figure out what aspects of the game truly contribute to the overall quality, and find the parts of the game/story that are just the cherry on top that you can remove. Rate things by how much they contribute, and how much they cost to implement.
Almost everything has a pro and con,
Even using AI art has it's strengths, although the quality has it's limits, it has more potential quantity than a whole team of artists. I've seen some of the recent trend of "phone NTR games" not fully utilize the quantity and use CGs semi sparingly, nothing is more disappointing than a big build up into an orgasm pic and it's just a generic sex CG. Break the scenes into more steps to give more reasons to show more CG, but just be careful not to bombard the user without reason. Be creative, add PoVs, social media posts, OF equivalent apps.
